RHOC’s Meghan King Loses Custody of 3 Kids After Child Protective Services Investigation

Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King has lost custody of her three kids, who she shares with ex-husband Jim Edmonds, following a Child Protective Services investigation.

Multiple sources told Us Weekly in a report on Wednesday, November 19, that King, 41, had lost custody of her kids in recent months. Edmonds, 55, currently has sole physical custody while King was granted supervised visitation.

The source told the outlet that the decision is currently temporary, while a hearing is scheduled to take place in early December and will determine whether or not the arrangement will become permanent.

While the circumstances aren’t currently clear, the insider told Us Weekly that the investigation was launched after a school employee called Child Protective Services about King.

King and Edmonds got married in 2014 and announced their split in 2019. Their divorce was finalized in May 2021. At the time, they agreed to share joint custody of their daughter, Aspen, 8, and 7-year-old twins, Hart and Hayes.

King’s reps did not immediately respond to Life & Style’s request for comment.

The decision was made after cops were called on King during a May 1 incident at Edmonds’ home with his current wife, Kortnie Edmonds.

In a written report by the Frontenac Police Department, Kortnie was named as the “victim” and King was listed as the “subject” in the altercation.

According to Us Weekly, the drama began when King arrived at the Edmonds’ home to drop off a dress for their daughter. She claimed she spoke to her ex before her arrival, though was told he and their daughter weren’t at the home when she got there.

Kortnie allegedly demanded that King leave, though she refused because she wanted to talk to her daughter. After Kortnie closed the door on King, the former reality star made her way into the house and started calling for Aspen.

“Kortnie walked back to the front door and observed Meghan standing inside the house approximately 5 feet from the doorway,” an officer wrote in a report from the incident, per Us Weekly.

Kortnie told authorities she told King to get out of the home, adding she “slowly walked back” out of the house “but wedged her foot in the door briefly” so she could not “shut the door completely.”

“After Meghan moved her foot, Kortnie closed the door,” the report added.

Kortnie initially requested that charges be brought against King, though she called police after the incident to say that she changed her mind. King was never arrested or detained for the incident.

However, Kortnie filed a petition for a restraining order against King on May 2. The case was dismissed on June 6 after she and King reached an agreement. According to Us Weekly, the agreement states that they are prohibited from coming near each other. Additionally, King is not allowed to talk about Kortnie on social media.
