No awkwardness here! Selling Sunset‘s Mary Fitzgerald is married to Romain Bonnet, a French hunk who is 12 years her junior. While the former pastry chef insisted age is “just a number” on the Netflix reality show, some fans find it jarring that he’s only 4 years older than Mary’s son, Austin Babbitt — during season 1 of the show, Mary reveals Austin was 21 while Romain was 25 at the time. Luckily, it doesn’t sound like anyone involved is bothered by that fact!

“I love Austin!” Romain tells Life & Style exclusively. “I really haven’t seen him since the pandemic started, but Mary and I are hoping to go visit him in Scottsdale once we’re able to!” Mary’s son lives in Arizona while she lives in Los Angeles, California, but judging by her Instagram, she visits whenever she can.

Austin and Mary are very close, as she revealed she had him when she was 16 years old and raised him as a single mom. It seems like he’s been nothing but supportive of her relationship with the younger man. Austin even helped walk his mom down the aisle during her season 2 wedding.

Even though her little one is all grown up and left the nest already, Mary and Romain may soon become parents to another bundle of joy — and we’re not talking about her dogs. The duo says they “eventually” want to have kids together. “Right now, with work and everything else going on, we haven’t even had time to think about it,” they explain.

Surprisingly, quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic has made it harder than ever for them to spend time together, even though Romain now works with Mary at The Oppenheim Group. “I wish I could spend all day with Romain, but because we are both working so much right now, I feel like I hardly see him at all!” says Mary. “But, when we do get to spend time together, we cherish it so much more.”

If you haven’t tuned in to season 3 of Selling Sunset, now available for streaming on Netflix, you’re missing “a lot,” according to the couple. “There is so, so much going on,” says Mary. “From this crazy housing market to the emotion you’ll see on the show, it’s a lot to keep up with. I’m eager to hear what everyone thinks!”
