‘The Bachelor’ Season 29 Week 4 Recap: Grant Ellis Heads to Madrid for Romantic Dates With the Women
The Bachelor season 29 is going global, with Grant Ellis and the ladies traveling to Madrid in episode 4 of the season. Life & Style breaks down the entire episode, including all of the dates, drama between the women and who went home.
Grant Ellis and the Girls Went to Madrid on ‘The Bachelor’ Season 29
Last week’s drama between Carolina and Rose bled into this week’s dates. The episode kicked off with the fallout from the prom. Many of the girls felt like they did not get enough time with Grant after the drama at last week’s prom.
“The whole night became about one person’s feelings,” Litia said, referencing a comment that Carolina made to Grant about something Rose told her in private.
Grant and Dina Went on a 1-on-1 Date
Grant chose Dina to go on the first one-on-one date in Madrid. At the start of the date, they played soccer with some local children. As they explored the city, they danced in the street together and later shared a romantic kiss on a rowboat. Later on at dinner, Grant told Dina that she reminded him of his mom in a good way.
Dina explained that she comes from a big family that never talked about their feelings. In past relationships, she “held back” a lot. She said that sometimes men are “intimidated” by her personality, but she was glad Grant saw her drive and confidence as a positive thing. Grant gave Dina the rose on the date.
What Happened on the Group Date?
Everyone except for Dina and Sarafiena went on the group date. Grant took the girls for a tour around the city while riding on donkeys. They then went to a bull riding arena where they were taught how to be matadoras. Litia shared a kiss with Grant during the lessons, making some of the other girls jealous.

The women then partook in a competition to show off the skills they learned. It was revealed that each of the girls would ride a mechanical bull, and whoever lasted the longest would get a special prize. Alexe and Zoe ended up lasting the longest on the bull, but in the end, it was Zoe who had the longest time overall. Zoe got special time with Grant that afternoon.
At the cocktail party later that night, Rose and Grant seemed to bounce back from last week’s drama. Grant also had a good conversation with Zoe about her upbringing and how that impacted her personality and the “stoic” way she comes off. He praised her for opening up to him about what she went through in her childhood.
During a separate conversation with the girls, Carolina mentioned that she liked Grant but could not imagine getting engaged after only one solo date with him. Juliana confronted her about the insecurities she projected after her one-on-one date and her doubts about the process. Carolina said that Grant knew where she stood and that she never asked for Juliana’s opinion. Juliana questioned why Carolina was still there if she wasn’t 100 percent all in on building a relationship with Grant.
The rest of the girls then confronted Carolina about where she stood with Grant. She broke down in tears trying to defend herself. Before he handed out the group date rose, Grant pulled Carolina for a chat after he saw her crying. She told him it was hard to have her intentions questioned by the other women and he tried to do everything he could to reassure her. Grant admitted that after the conversation, he was a little confused about what was going on in the house. He decided not to give out the group date rose.
Grant and Sarafiena Connected on Their Date
Grant and Sarafiena went bungee jumping for their one-on-one date. At dinner, they were able to further develop their relationship and declared that they both liked each other. He ended up giving her the rose on the date and finished off the night with a steamy make out session.
“The sparks are there, the chemistry is there and I could see myself falling in love with her,” Grant reflected.
Who Went Home at the Rose Ceremony?
At the cocktail party before the rose ceremony, Grant asked to speak with Juliana about what happened on the group date with Carolina. Juliana said that Carolina came off “ungrateful and unhappy” after her one-on-one date with Grant. He then asked Carolina how she really felt about their date. He said he was scared that she was questioning their relationship. Carolina said it was “frustrating” for the girls to question her. She said she thought it was normal to have doubts so early on in the relationship.
Elsewhere at the cocktail party, Rose said that she didn’t feel good about her chances of getting a rose after her drama with Carolina. She had a tense conversation with Carolina where Rose decided she wanted to go home. Rose spoke with Grant and told him she was going home. They said their goodbyes and she left on her own terms.
At the rose ceremony, Parisa and Natalie were sent home.
