Old rivalries die hard on The Challenge: War of the Worlds. The MTV reality show is back with 34 competitors going through gruesome obstacles to take home the $1 million prize. Although there’s a big squad of newbies, show veterans Wes Bergmann and Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio aren’t quite ready to let go of their previous tensions.

Our favorite redhead spoke exclusively with Life & Style and revealed that he DGAF about the six-time winner and alluded to the idea that he’s the easiest elimination of the new season. “Bananas is this season’s layup and has been for a while now,” Wes admitted. “I don’t know, he doesn’t really provide any value to the show anymore, and, based on his absolute lack of prep or any sort of natural athletic ability, he’s at the bottom of the list again as far as a layup goes.” Ouch.

Their feud dates back literally years ago and it’s obvious the two will never put the past behind them. He divulged that the pattern of previous seasons continues this time around with people instantly trying to remove Johnny from the house. However, that doesn’t mean that Wes is gunning for him at all. “You’re supposed to go after the easiest meat and he refuses to treat anyone like a normal human being. That’s why I don’t really need to go for him because so many people just want to get rid of him.”

He was sure to add, “So I purposely am going to try to keep him there to watch him lose repeatedly.”

Johnny isn’t going down that easily. The NBC host exclusively told Life & Style in a separate interview that although he and Wes “have never gotten along,” he only sees himself as his biggest competition. “People just don’t want to see me win,” he quipped.

“It’s a lot more difficult than it used to be,” the reality stud confessed. “Not just making it to a final, making it to the halfway point of The Challenge now is an uphill battle for me. Nobody else has to deal with that. There’s nobody else that shows up day one and has the entire house against them.”

Although there are a lot of new contestants from all over the world battling it out in the post-apocalyptic theme, it looks like these two will still carry some drama between them.

Don’t miss the premiere of The Challenge: War of the Worlds airing on MTV on Wednesday, February 6, at 9:00 p.m. EST.
