Since leaving Real Housewives of New York after season 10, former cast member Carole Radziwill claimed her friendship with costar Tinsley Mortimer was for the cameras alone. However, sources close to production tell Life & Style exclusively that Tinsley, 43, feels the 55-year-old isn’t being legit about the nature of their relationship.

“Tinsley is saddened that Carole is alleging that their friendship was fake,” the insider revealed. “Tinsley is not an actress and considered Carole a true friend.”

Things got strange between the former costars when Carole went on The Jenny McCarthy Show on July 17, and dropped the bombshell news that she and Tinsley were never really as close as they seemed. “Tinsley and I weren’t really clicking,” she said on the radio show. “We were on the show together, no one wanted to film with her that much. I had fixed her up with this guy I knew, so it was an easy way to do scenes together.”

Insiders say Tinsley feels like Carole rekindling her friendship with RHONY pal Dorinda Medley, who has been supportive of her appearance in the new documentary JFK JR: The Final Year, may have brought these comments on.

“Carole and Dorinda recently started to become friends again and spent time together. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to conclude that this was born from their friendship. Carole has never said this before,” the source dished. “In fact, Carole said the exact opposite in the past. She said that she took Tinsley under her wing and considered her a good friend. Now this emerges after Dorinda and Carole spent time together, which is very telling.”

For the blonde, she doesn’t quite get why the journalist would set her up with someone she really connected with if she didn’t care about the friendship. “Carole has said that they were real friends which is why she set Tinsley up with Scott Kluth,” the source added. “Tinsley doesn’t think Carole would’ve set up Scott with her if she didn’t consider her a friend.”

“Tinsley never heard back from Carole after she broke up with Scott, so she thought Carole took Scott’s side,” the insider continued. “Tinsley understood that Carole and Scott were friends before they were so she didn’t hold that against Carole and just moved on. Now, Tinsley is devastated to learn that Carole was faking their friendship all along.”
