He’s not crying anymore! Just days after he posted — then deleted — an emotional video clip in which he seemed to have a mental breakdown in the midst of his legal battle with his ex-wife Norma Mitchell Gibson over their 10-year-old daughter Shayla, Tyrese Gibson can finally celebrate a small victory. His child abuse case was dropped, and the actor took to Instagram to share a sweet message thanking his current wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, for standing by his side throughout the entire ordeal.

“When your [first] charge gets dropped your wife’s mind will finally REST!!!!!” the 38-year-old captioned a shot of his wife sleeping. “Thank you, Jesus, for sending me a fierce and strong wife who is educated and resilient that was able to stand with me so far [through] this unexpected storm.”

On Thursday, Nov. 2, the Los Angeles County Department of Children officially closed the investigation that was opened against Tyrese, The Blast reported. The case closing is the culmination of two weeks of court hearings between the exes, but now that the investigation is closed, child services will no longer seek any criminal charges against the Fast and Furious star.

The investigation was opened after Norma — who was married to Tyrese between 2007 and 2009 — accused her ex-husband of beating their daugther. Norma claimed that Tyrese “pushed our daughter to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other,” according to court documents obtained by People. He allegedly hit Shayla “between 12 and 16 times.”

In response to the allegations, Norma was granted a restraining order against Tyrese and she was also awarded temporary physical and legal custody of Shayla. It is unclear whether the restraining order has also been dropped.
