Your eyes weren’t playing tricks on you — you do know the guy who plays Gary K. Longstreet on this season of American Horror Story: Cult. The controversial character, a loud-and-proud Donald Trump supporter, is portrayed by the grown child of pop icon Cher!

Chaz Bono, the child of the “Believe” singer and ex-husband Sonny Bono, made his debut as the one-handed Gary in the premiere of the FX show. Viewers watched as the straight, male, cisgender grocery store clerk got into it with Sarah Paulson’s character, Ally Mayfair-Richards, a paranoid lesbian.

This isn't the first time the Emmy-nominated producer has appeared on TV. The transgender star, who chooses not to play trans characters on-screen, has dabbled in acting a number of times already — though he’s really making a name for himself with this role. Here’s a refresher on what you should know about Gary on AHS — plus, a little about Chaz himself.

Gary is a #TeamTrump member

Gary is a staunch Trump supporter, seen looking gleeful about the results of the 2016 election and wearing a MAGA hat. But in real life, Chaz doesn’t “mix politics” in his acting. “I felt like my only responsibility is to create as well-rounded a character as I could create within the bounds of American Horror Story, which obviously is a show that has extremes to it,” he tells TV Guide.

He’s recruited by the cult

In the Sept. 16 episode, Gary was recruited by Evan Peters’ Kai, a blue-haired leader of the clown mask-wearing, murderous cult.

He cut off his own hand

The grocery clerk was initially chained in a basement by Ivy and Winter, who were preventing him from voting for the now-president. Kai then convinced Gary to cut off his hand to escape and vote — before going to the hospital.

See what’s in store. Chaz Bono is Gary Longstreet. Tuesday 10PM on FX.

Chaz feels honored to be part of the show

"I'm so excited, honored, and humbled to be a part of this epic season," he wrote on Facebook ahead of the premiere.

This isn’t his first time on AHS

The 48-year-old appeared on AHS: Roanoke in 2016. Fans may remember him as Lot Polk/Brian Wells in five episodes of last year’s installment.

He made his mom proud

Mom Cher’s a fan, tweeting, “CHAZ IM SO PROUD OF YOU. YOURE A TALENTED ARTIST…KNEW IT FROM SEC. I SAW SCENE IN FILM. IT WAS MAGIC‼️YOU ARE AMAZING
MOM.”
