Katy Perry and John Mayer’s chemistry is undeniable, and first portraits of the pair for the crooner’s single “Who You Love” prove just that.

The song, which features Katy, is off of John’s sixth studio album, Paradise Valley. And for the cover art, the duo took part in a sexy black and white photo shoot by Mario Sorrenti.

The cover shows John sitting on the floor, clutching a guitar and reclining on a couch — a couch that Katy lies across. The brunette bombshell, 29, holds her head up with her left arm as her right arm is around John’s neck, holding on to his shirt. Katy stuns in a slinky dress.

Katy Perry Sparks Rumors She’s Engaged to John Mayer

Another take shows the pair in the same position, only this time Katy is looking forward and John plays the guitar.

We couldn’t help but notice that the pose looked very similar to a famous pencil drawing titled “Flutesong” by Paul Gassenheimer. The artwork, which can be viewed here, shows legendary actor James Dean on the floor, relaxing his head on a couch. The legendary Marilyn Monroe is on the piece of furniture with her head on her right arm and her left arm touching the back of James’ head.

It wouldn’t be much of a stretch if Katy and John were slightly inspired! The singer has voiced her love for Marilyn in the past. “Marilyn Monroe is a source of inspiration to millions worldwide, after having the opportunity to see the movie and fall in love all over again with Marilyn Monroe, I’m excited to find a way to share this movie that I loved so much with my fans in a special and unique way,” she said in 2011 after The Weinstein Company, the company behind 2011’s My Week With Marilyn, decided to mash-up scenes from the film with a remix of Katy’s “The One That Got Away.”

Another shot from Katy and John’s shoot shows the “Firework” songstress in a ribbed turtleneck sitting up high behind John. She has her arm around his neck again.

One of our favorite portraits shows the crooner bending his leading lady down and kissing her neck.

“It’s really the much larger, scaled-up version of small-town gossip. ‘Well, I hear he dated so and so,’ and you have to make these decisions when you get to know somebody,” he said about the song.

“If the music is framed correctly and quality, and if it’s right and the soul is there, it would be the highest compliment to the record if somebody said or people said, ‘I don’t even think about it being a relationship, I just hear it as a great song.’”

Katy Perry’s Dating Rules For John Mayer

The couple have been in an on-off relationship since August 2012.

“I actually am dating my crush,” Katy recently said about John. “ I had a crush on him for a long time, and it just so happens we fit together great.”
