Singer-songwriter Todd Snider was forced to cancel several of his tour stops after he was allegedly assaulted in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was arrested soon after.

What Happened to Todd Snider?

Snider’s team took to Facebook on November 4, 2025, to reveal that he “sustained severe injuries as the victim of a violent assault outside of his hotel” while in Salt Lake City for a show.

Salt Lake City police confirmed that they’re investigating “an alleged assault of a 59-year-old male at the Commonwealth Room” on November 1, 2025, which was where Snider was originally scheduled to perform.

Following the incident, Snider was taken to the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City and received treatment. Officials said he was discharged on November 2, 2025, per NBC News.

Todd Snider Was Arrested Following His Hospitalization

Police said Snider left the hospital against his will and returned soon after to air his grievances about the situation. He was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, trespassing and making a violent threat, according to NBC News.

“He returned to the hospital and made threats that he was going to assault members of the staff,” Salt Lake City police Detective Michael Ruff told the outlet on November 4. “By this this point he had been treated and released.”

Snider has not yet publicly spoken about the situation, while it’s not currently clear if he was released from jail. His rep did not immediately respond to Life & Style’s request for comment.

Why Did Todd Snider Cancel His Tour?

Following the assault, Snider’s team explained in the statement that he was canceling his 13-city tour after he performed only two shows.

“We are heartbroken to announce the cancellation of the High, Lonesome and Then Some 2025 Tour dates,” the statement read. “Todd will be unable to perform for an undetermined amount of time. We deeply apologize for the cancellation and any inconvenience it causes. We appreciate your understanding as Todd receives needed medical treatment. We hope to have more information on new dates soon.”

Who Is Todd Snider?

Snider is an American songwriter who has been releasing music since 1990. He released his debut album, Songs for the Daily Planet, in 1994, and has gone on to release a total of 20 albums.

His most recent album, High, Lonesome and Then Some, was released on October 17 and was intended to go along with the now-cancelled tour.
