Who Didn’t Attend the 2025 Met Gala? J. Lo and More Skipped This Year’s Glamorous Event

Jennifer Lopez seemingly tipped off fans that she wasn’t busy prepping for the event earlier on May 5, when she shared a selfie in workout gear while at home in Los Angeles. The Wedding Planner star famously attended solo in 2024 without then-husband Ben Affleck, even though she was a cochair of the event.

Separation rumors swirled around the former couple at the time, and Jennifer confirmed in her August 2024 divorce filing that she and Ben separated on April 26, 2024, two weeks prior to the Met Gala. Ben and J. Lo’s divorce was finalized in February 2025.

Blake Lively

Blake Lively already was reported to not be attending the event, as sources told multiple media outlets in March that the gala wasn’t on her schedule.

“She’s not a Kardashian that goes every year,” an insider told Us Weekly, when the outlet confirmed on March 21 that Blake wouldn’t be present. The same day, an insider told TMZ that Blake and husband Ryan Reynolds weren’t going because it wasn’t an annual event for them. The couple last attended in 2022, when they were Met Gala cochairs.

Gisele Bündchen

While Gisele Bündchen has been a regular at the Met Gala throughout the years, the supermodel welcomed baby No. 3 — her first child with boyfriend Joaquim Valente — in February and has not made any public appearances since then.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker loves the Met Gala but told Entertainment Tonight ahead of the event that she was too busy to attend. 

“I have to work,” SJP explained. “But there’s going to be so much to see, and I look forward to seeing what everybody does and how they interpret the theme and the homework they did for the assignment. A very joyful assignment.”

Naomi Campell

Naomi Campbell wished fans a “Happy Met Monday!” via Instagram hours before the red carpet kicked off but told fans she wasn’t going to be there in an Instagram post.

The supermodel squashed rumors that Anna Wintour didn’t invite her despite 17 past appearances. Naomi wrote how she was “so honored to be invited to tonight’s big event but regretfully cannot make it. Even though I am not there in person, I’m with you in spirit.”

Selena Gomez

Fans of Selena Gomez were hoping she’d attend her first Met Gala since 2018, but sadly she wasn’t among those in attendance. The night before the event, Selena shared an Instagram post showing a casual dinner party she had at home in Los Angeles with fiancé Benny Blanco and several friends. 

Khloé Kardashian

While Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner all made it to the 2025 Met Gala, sister Khloé Kardashian was a no-show.

The Good American founder attended her one and only Met Gala in 2022.

Khloé squashed rumors that she hadn’t been invited over the years during a 2022 episode of The Kardashians.

“I have been invited in the past. I just opted not to go,” she explained in a confessional. “I’m not big on red carpets. I think I’ve made that very clear.”

Taylor Swift

Some fans of Taylor Swift hoped she’d break cover and make her first public appearance since the 2025 Super Bowl in February, but the pop superstar didn’t attend the Met Gala. However, it has never been a significant event on Taylor’s calendar. She last attended nine years ago in 2016 and was a cochair of the Met Gala that year.
