Nov. 16 marked the finale of Project Runway Season 16 following three months of high-level stress — and high-level drama (remember that cheating scandal?) — but Kentaro came out on top thanks to his unique yet sophisticated atheistic! Continue reading for a brief recap of what went down.

Kentaro Kameyama, 38

The classically trained pianist was certainly the underdog going into the finale. The LA resident seemed to struggle with the meaning of the word cohesion, and was ripped apart by the judges for one of his preview looks. But his entire collection completely blew them away, and Zac said it was unlike anything they had ever seen on the show before, earning him the Season 16 prize!

Ayana Ife, 27

As a Muslim woman, modesty is a key element in Ayana's designs, and about half of her models walked the runway wearing hijabs. The judges were particularly in love with her last look, a full-length ball gown, and her innovation earned her the runner-up spot.

Brandon Kee, 24

The San Francisco resident was the clear frontrunner going into the finale. With three challenge wins under his belt, the most out of anyone, he could basically do no wrong in the judges' eyes, but they all wished he had used a wider range of fabrics in his final collection, a decision that landed him in third place. In an interview with Life & Style, Brandon admitted, "I honestly didn’t know what to expect [when going into the competition]. It was kind of a last minute thing for me to apply… When I create something, it takes days and days… It was surprising how well I did."

Brandon, who never landed in the bottom three, believes staying quiet and focused in the workroom ultimately helped him get this far. "I’m in a room with so many loud personalities, I think that really benefited me in the end to not be caught up in the drama."

The San Juan native had her fair share of ups and downs during the competition, and was even eliminated before Tim Gunn used his save on her. During her presentation, Margarita got a standing ovation from judges Zac Posen and Nina Garcia when one of her plus-size models tore off her sarong and rocked the runway in just a one-piece bathing suit. Alas, she came in fourth place.
