Wondering how the stars celebrated before and after this year’s Academy Awards and that epic selfie? Life & Style has all the scoop when it comes to this year’s best Oscars party moments.
Thursday, February 27: Hollywood Domino Pre-Oscar Charity Gala
Xtina’s Soon-To-Be Baby Daddy Hits the Town - Alone!
“Christina Aguilera's fiance, Matt Rutler, made a random appearance and spent most the time seated with an older couple,” a partygoer says of the dad-to-be. “Matt was cleaned up nicely in a fitted suit, but did not seem exceptionally social, but did speak occasionally with guests associated with the charity as they stopped by his table.”
Christina was probably rested up at home while Matt enjoyed some time without the pregnant pop star!
Friday, February 28: QVC Pre-Oscars Party
Rain, Rain, Go Away - It’s Oscars Weekend!
Celebs like Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie and Real Housewives of Orange County star Gretchen Ross had to wade through the water without their heels on because Los Angeles’ surprise rainy weather flooded the red carpet!
“All the female celebs couldn’t believe they had to get their feet wet at the party!” an onlooker says. “You could tell no one wanted to take their shoes off, but they really didn’t have a choice.”
One celeb who never made it into the party? “Lilly Ghalichi from Shah's of Sunset was standing in the lobby with a male friend as they clearly couldn't get in,” an eyewitness says. “She had a miserable look on her face and seemed really pissed off. Lots of people were leaving and they were just standing there.”
The event ended with fireworks when special guest Miss Piggy pied Joan Rivers in the face! It appears the two stars were arguing over Miss Piggy’s announcement of her own Lifestyle Brand, “Moi by Miss Piggy,” coming to QVC March 16th. Apparently there’s only room for one diva at QVC.
Saturday, March 1: The Weinstein Company Pre-Oscar Dinner Party Hosted by DeLeón Tequila
Taylor and Harry’s Close Call
“Taylor Swift found herself at a table with Meryl Streep and Jamie King, which seemed a bit weird. But the table itself was right on the opposite side of the ballroom from Harry Styles,” a partygoer tells Life & Style. “Harry arrived late to the party, after many people had already sat down to start eating. And after he found his table he decided to use the rest room but took a very strange path through the room in order to avoid Taylor.”
Adds the source, “The two never interacted and Harry looked rather uncomfortable, gazing around to see where she was before moving anywhere. Taylor however seemed oblivious to him even being there. She was wrapped up in talking to Meryl.”
Sunday, March 2: The Independent Spirit Awards
Lupita Nyong’o’s Pre-Oscars Win
At the Independent Spirit Awards, sponsored by Audi, birthday girl Lupita Nyong’o got to practice her Oscars acceptance speech when she grabbed a much-coveted ISA for Best Supporting Female.
She told the crowd: “Not a bad way to celebrate my birthday! Growing up in Kenya I really didn’t understand the difference between independent and not independent film…and then in college I realized, ‘oh indie film is where stuff actually happens, stuff that matters.’”
Also a winner that night: Jared Leto, who has been previously linked to Lupita Nyong’o. The 30 Seconds to Mars singer joked to the crowd about the rumors during his own acceptance speech for winning Best Supporting Male, thanking his “future ex-wife. Lupita, I’m thinking of you!”
Sunday March 2: 12 Years a Slave Dinner at Sunset Tower
Brangleina’s Pre-Oscars Dinner Date
At a dinner, sponsored by Grey Goose, to celebrate the Oscar-nominated film, “Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were very social, talking to everyone. They walked in hand in hand in matching outfits once again,” a dinner attendee says.
“Brad smoked cigarettes poolside with Michael Fassbender while Angie mingled with guests,” adds the source. “Angie kept saying how much she loved the Lower East Side drink. The event had a seated dinner at one long table for all of the guests. Very intimate.”
Sunday, March 2: Elton John’s Oscar’s Viewing Party
Britney’s Brief Appearance
"Britney Spears left after 30 minutes,” a source inside Elton’s bash tells Life& Style. “She seemed a bit numb and didn't look like she was having too much fun, but she and her boyfriend, David (Lucado) were super cute together!”
Sunday, March 2: Governors Ball
Right after the Oscars wrapped, Hollywood’s most elite headed on over to the Governors Ball to celebrate the night’s wins.
“The ball had a great turn out this year- I saw Angelina and Brad, Kate Hudson, Spike Lee, Cate Blanchett, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, Lupita Nyongo’o, Chitiwel Egifor, Michael Fassbender, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Jonah Hill, Meryl Streep, and Barkhad Abdi,” a guest tells Life & Style of the high-profile crowd, who sipped on Sterling Vineyards wine throughout the night.
Adds the partygoer, “Matthew and Camila were hand-in-hand the entire night and she was ecstatic that he won.”
Sunday, March 2: The Night of 100 Stars Oscars Viewing Party
Angie’a Dad Is A Ladies’ Man
Angelina Jolie’s dad, John Voight was the last celebrity to attend the event at around 7pm looking dapper in a tuxedo and white scarf and holding a mini Oscar. “He was literally being mobbed women who were all over him, taking selfie pictures, asking him to recite phrases in Russian and he could hardly move, it was complete chaos. He was getting visibly annoyed,” says an onlooker.
“Anne Heche looked gorgeous in a long white dress with matching shawl, but was so offended by a reporter asking about ex-girlfriend Ellen hosting the Oscars that she angrily stormed right off the red carpet leaving her boyfriend to stand there alone and chase after her.”
Sunday, March 2: Fame and Philanthropy Oscars After Party
Paris Still a Party Girl
“Paris Hilton showed up for a good time. After posing for pics, Paris made herself comfortable at a VIP table where bottle service began flowing immediately,” a source at the party says. “She downed shots of vodka followed by shots of redbull. Paris took a series of selfies throughout the night before eventually making her way to the DJ turntable where she followed Ne-Yo's performance which was clearly the highlight of the evening. Paris closed out the party which ended promptly at 2am.”
