Fans of Ian Somerhalder were shocked when the actor suddenly professed his love for ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev on Twitter — but as it turns out, a clever hacker was to blame!
An individual going by the name of "cloudnine" managed to take control of the 36-year-old's account Tuesday night and send 15 tweets before getting shut down.

"I Love u @ninadobrev," was the one that caused the most commotion, given that Ian and his Vampire Diaries costar dated for nearly two years before splitting in 2013. He is currently married to Twilight actress Nikki Reed.
The hacker also wrote, "before I get locked out I just wanna say this has been a great experience" and ended with, "I am so sorry," before the account was set back to normal.

Ian has yet to comment on the incident, but did touch on the dangers of technology in an interview with CNET last week.
