The Vampire Diaries series finale is tonight — and creator Julie Plec is sharing some serious spoilers!

“There is so much in this last episode that is either calling back on, celebrating, or mentioning things that happened in the early seasons,” she told Variety. "I do think that most people that watch the show…will be plenty surprised.”

Following the "June wedding" of Stefan and Caroline last week, fans will finally see the return of Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena and her doppelgänger character Katherine — as well as a quick answer to Kat Graham's (aka Bonnie Bennett) possible death.

"The finale immediately answers that question,” Julie reveals. “You’ll know by the end of the first four minutes. You should have a sense whether you should be planning the funeral or celebrating.”

Series regulars Ian Somerhalder (Damon) and Paul Wesley (Stefan) also shared their thoughts on the series finale, and believe longtime viewers will be happy with the ending.

"I think the finale will be very satisfying," Paul said before Ian added, "I think it really cinches it up beautifully. It holds water. It has legs."

Ian continued, "I think it’s good to close this chapter and really let it be. There’s something beautiful about closure. People and things come into our lives and out of our lives and there’s so much beauty in what’s here and how it affects us."

However, Julie has another bombshell for fans of The CW series.

“Dot dot dot dead," she said ominously. "It’s a show that kind of launched out of grief. Elena’s character had just lost her parents. And it’s a show that ends with a sense of what peace means, and that was on purpose. So I hope people enjoy that."

We'll have to watch to fill in the dots! Tune into The Vampire Diaries finale tonight at 9 p.m. EST on The CW. A retrospective will air before the final episode at 8 p.m. EST.
