50 Cent to Release ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’ Doc: Everything to Know

A new four-part docuseries called Sean Combs: The Reckoning will take a look at the rise and fall of Sean “Diddy” Combs amid his prison sentence.

What Is ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’ About?

The upcoming docuseries will take a deep dive into Combs’ career as one of hip-hop’s most influential power brokers, as well as his downfall after he faced multiple accusations of sexual coercion, assault and rape.

Jackson joined forces with filmmaker Alexandria Stapleton to look at how Combs’ impact reshaped American culture in the 1990s.

“Diddy. Puff Daddy. Love. The public knows the hip-hop icon by many names — but who is the real Sean Combs?” the logline reads. “In a new four-part documentary by Emmy and Grammy Award–winning executive producer Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson and Emmy Award–winning director Alexandria Stapleton, Sean Combs: The Reckoning is a staggering examination of the media mogul, music legend and convicted offender.”

Sean Combs: The Reckoning will feature never-before-seen material, including interviews with people formerly part of Combs’ inner circle.

Why Is Sean ‘Diddy Combs’ in Prison?

After Combs was arrested in September 2024, his case went to trial in May 2025. He was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges in July 2025, though he was found guilty on two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution.

On October 3, 2025, Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison. He is currently expected to be released in June 2028.

All four episodes of Sean Combs: The Reckoning will premiere on Netflix on December 2, 2025.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson Have a Complicated History

Jackson and Combs’ longtime rivalry began when Jackson criticized Combs’ business dealings, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, Jackson has had a habit of targeting industry power players. In recent years, Jackson hasn’t been shy to share his negative thoughts about Combs in light of his legal issues.

The two have collaborated together and worked on the track “I Get Money (Forbes 1, 2, 3 Remix)” in 2007. However, Curtis also released diss tracks about Combs including “Hip-Hop (Dissin’ Diddy),” “Get Down (Dissin’ Diddy)” and “The Bomb.”
