Aaron Carter Opens Up About Past Drug Use and Depression — “I Went Broke”
Aaron Carter's life was not one big party.
The former child star opened up in a rare interview about his past drug use, depression and losing the fortune he'd amassed.

"The depression was brought on because I loved my family being together. I did not want to see them divorced," he said of his parents' split on Oprah: Where Are They Now. "I couldn't dwell on it. I couldn't think about it too much. I kind of had to block it out. I started partying and getting into a lot of trouble."
He continued, "With everything that was happening, I started losing all my money. I went broke."
The 28-year-old also admitted that he checked into rehab in 2011 after his stint on Dancing With the Stars failed to relaunch his music career.

"They were not interested in me. They had no interest in me," he said of record executives. "They didn't want to touch me. I started getting really heavy into drinking and then I was telling people, 'I'm on a bad path right now, I need help.' The next day, I was at Betty Ford Center."
