Practice makes perfect! Alex Rodriguez finally revealed how he prepped for his epic proposal to Jennifer Lopez, which took place on March 9. It turns out he planned it for half a year and rehearsed the entire thing for three days in a row to make sure he got the moment just right. You can say the man is really in love, because that’s dedication.
On Tuesday, April 16, the 43-year-old appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to spill all the deets. “I planned it for about six months. It was on a beach in the Bahamas. I had the ring but what was interesting was that, three days prior to me going down on one knee … I would rehearse three days in a row, because I wanted the sunset to be perfect,” he told the TV host, 44. Luckily, he had his assistant to help him, which he fake proposed to all three times.
“So one time, the sunset was at 6:27, the next day it was, like 6:29 and then the third day it was raining,” he continued, recalling his stress. “So I kind of came out at 6:29 and I said, ‘this is the time when I’m going to do it,’ and it worked out well,” he admitted.
When asked about wedding planning, the baseball legend claimed they “are still celebrating the engagement.” He also took an opportunity to support his lady’s upcoming film, Hustlers. “It’s going to be great. It comes out September 13. It’s based on a true story,” he continued. “She’s awesome. She’s training like a mad woman. She looks so good.”
Then, Jimmy joked about Jennifer being extremely multi-talented and commented about her dancing skills being better than Alex’s for their wedding day. “That can be very intimidating among other things to do in front of her,” Alex explained. “She’s a great dancer and she’s also a great teacher. I’m just a terrible student. Not because of effort. I just can’t dance.” It’s OK, Alex. We’re sure Jen can dance for the both of y’all!
