One of the hardest times of her life. Amber Rose opened up in a new interview about her split from Kanye West. According to the 33-year-old model, Yeezy’s decision to reveal intimate details of their relationship on his 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, nearly drove her to suicide.
“That is an extreme form of bullying as well, to have such a huge voice to put out an album, to say whatever the f–k you want. I had to just take that. I had to take the heartbreak on top of it,” Amber said during a recent appearance on Complex’s YouTube series Everyday Struggle. “It’s a great part of history and hip-hop, and that’s cool, and I’m happy to be a part of it, but during that time was not a great time for me because I’m famous and I’m broke, can’t date anyone else, can’t say anything on the Internet because Kanye has such a voice.”
The How to Be a Bad Bitch author said that she felt so trapped that she contemplated taking her own life. “If I was going to kill myself, I would have done it during those times,” she continued. “In all of my relationships, I have been the one that’s heartbroken. I have never cheated on any of my boyfriends, and still have never said anything mean about Kanye … This is after six, seven years of constant bullying from him.”
Amber and Kanye called it quits in 2010, months before My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was released. While she has moved on from their relationship, Amber — who is currently dating rapper 21 Savage — is still angry at Ye for referencing her son Sebastian, 4, in a heated 2016 Twitter war with the young boy’s father and Amber’s ex-husband, Wiz Khalifa. (“I know you mad every time you look at your child that this girl got you for 18 years,” Kanye wrote at the time. “You wouldn't have a child if it wasn't for me!”)
“You don’t say nothing about my baby. I was quiet for so long. I could have got a reality show just off the fact that I was his girlfriend. I could have wrote a book just off the fact that I was his girlfriend,” Amber declared. “You know what? I’m a real-ass bitch. I’mma take the high road and work my ass off, and I’m going to get everything I get on my own, so nobody can be like, ‘Yo, I gave her that.’ The only thing I got from him was fame, and fame don’t get you no f—king money. Period.”
Four years after pulling the plug on his romance with Amber, Kanye married Kim Kardashian in a stunning Italian wedding ceremony in May 2014. Together, the power couple share two children, daughter North, 4, and son Saint, 19 months.
