Are Cobra Kai’s Mary Mouser and Tanner Buchanan Engaged? Costars Wear Rings and Kiss at Premiere
Talk about a hard launch! Cobra Kai costars Mary Mouser and Tanner Buchanan confirmed their romance in a big way by kissing and wearing rings at the show’s series finale event. Are they engaged?
Are Mary Mouser and Tanner Buchanan Engaged?
Mary and Tanner posed together and made a point of holding up their left hands to show off matching rings on the red carpet at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre on February 12, 2025.
The duo locked lips and Mary planted sweet kisses on Tanner’s cheek in several other photos.
Netflix confirmed the couple’s engagement the following day, sharing a photo of the duo holding up their rings with the caption, “COBRA KRYING BECAUSE TANNER BUCHANAN AND MARY MOUSER ARE ENGAGED.”

Surprised fans reacted to the news in the comments. “Didn’t even know they were dating,” one person wrote, while another added, “I’M SORRY WHAT?? Congrats!!!”
Among Cobra Kai‘s cast, Tanner said that Mary is “a hundred percent” a ride-or-die confidant, he told People on the red carpet. However, she’s in good company.
“But to be honest, literally everybody. There’s not one person that we don’t hang out with and have fun with, and we truly keep saying that we’re going to be around in each other’s lives forever. I don’t know how to explain it.” he continued.
“It’s just really crazy, weird, cool family connection that we’ve built over the past seven and a half years, and none of us are ever not going to be in each other’s lives,” Tanner added about the bond between the cast members.
‘Cobra Kai’ Says Farewell in Final Season
Cobra Kai season 6 was broken into two parts. The first premiered on Netflix on November 15, 2024, while the final run of episodes dropped on February 13, 2025
Cocreators Hayden Schlossberg, Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald broke the news to fans in an open letter on January 20, 2023, that Cobra Kai would be coming to an end after season 6 … at least as a TV show.
“Our Day 1 goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined,” they wrote in an announcement post to Instagram. “So, it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we are able to announce that achievement. … While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger.”
The following month, Jon hinted that there could still be projects ahead related to the series.

“Netflix didn’t tell us it was the last season. We told them it was the last season,” he wrote in a February 26, 2023, post on X when responding to a fan who asked if Netflix cancelled the show. “But that doesn’t mean we’re finished with the Miyagiverse. We love this world,” he teased.
Tanner would be thrilled with reprising his character, Robby Keene, in any future Cobra Kai-related project.
“I would love nothing more that if they gave me the call,” he told People at the series finale event. “If they told me right now we’re going back in a few months, I’d be like, ‘Great, let’s go. Let’s just do it.’ And I hope we do get to revisit these characters later down the line at some point.”
Cobra Kai‘s first season premiered on YouTube in May 2018, and was quickly picked up by Netflix. The show was a revival of the iconic 1984 film The Karate Kid, as stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprised their roles of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence.
The actors fell out of touch after the movie and reconnected at the 2005 funeral of costar Pat Morita, who played Daniel’s karate instructor Mr. Miyagi. They became good friends and decided to bring back their characters back in the present time, with Johnny reopening the Cobra Kai dojo while Daniel worked in the same town as a successful car salesman.
Mary and Tanner have been with the show for all six seasons. She was 21 years old when it began, playing Daniel’s teenage daughter Samantha LaRusso, who became his second student when Daniel opened the Miyagi-Do Karate dojo.
Tanner’s Robby first appeared in season 1’s fifth episode as an extra, eventually being revealed as Johnny’s son.
