What Do You Mean?! Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Skip the 2019 VMAs — Here’s Why
What do you mean … Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin aren’t in attendance at the 2019 VMAs?! The newlyweds opted to skip out on the popular awards show. But why?
According to Hello Giggles, Hailey jetted off to Jamaica with Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye for a girls’ trip to celebrate Justine’s birthday. The pals reportedly arrived on Saturday and were spotted at the popular waterfall, Blue Hole, on Sunday afternoon.
Justin, meanwhile, shared a selfie showing off his, uh, Drew underwear while the pre-show was airing. Although his wife wasn’t in the shot, their new kitten, Sushi, *did* make the shot. Aww.
Of course, the news isn’t entirely surprising. Although the lovebirds are often photographed out in public together, they’ve never walked a red carpet. OK, *technically* they did when they were teens — prior to dating. Back in 2011, Jailey attended the New York City premiere of Bieber’s biopic, Never Say Never. At the time, the Biebs was only sixteen, while his future fiancée was fourteen. How stinkin’ cute is that?
On Sunday, August 25, the “Sorry” crooner shared a post about anxiety and captioned it, “My gramma just shared this with me. Share of this helps u.” Justin has been open about his struggles with mental health in the past. “I got really depressed on tour,” he told Vogue in February. “I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time.” He also revealed that he and Hailey are opposites when it comes to how they choose to deal with their emotions, but because of that, their relationship works.
“I’m the emotionally unstable one,” he told the outlet. “I struggle with finding peace. I just feel like I care so much and I want things to be so good and I want people to like me. Hailey’s very logical and structured, which I need. I’ve always wanted security — with my dad being gone sometimes when I was a kid, with being on the road. With the lifestyle I live, everything is so uncertain. I need one thing that’s certain. And that is my baby boo.”
Aww. In other words, it sounds like Justin didn’t want a bunch of cameras in his face and we respect him for it. Keep being cute, you two.
