Are ‘Love Is Blind’ Stars Joey and Monica Still Together?

Monica and Joey bonded over their light-hearted senses of humor while they were behind the wall, and it didn’t take long before they fell in love. Joey proposed during episode 2 of Love Is Blind season 8, and Monica was thrilled with the idea of spending the rest of her life with the physician assistant. Both Joey and Monica follow each other on Instagram, which hints they’re on good terms.

While the pair made it to their wedding day during the season 8 finale, Monica ultimately chose to not marry Joey.

What Happened With Love Is Blind’s Joey and Monica in the Pods?

Joey’s thick Minnesota accent and the fact that he seemed to always be in a good mood was something that clicked with Monica early on in the Love Is Blind pods. Monica ditched her dating apps prior to filming and was keen on finding a man who fit in with her close-knit squad back home.

“Everyone says I give off Golden Retriever vibes,” Joey, who was seeking a partner that honors healthy boundaries and open discussions, told the cameras in episode 1. “But, now I’m ready to show who really Joey is. I’m excited for it.”

During their first meeting, Joey and Monica discovered that they both had a distaste for country music, and he revealed that he could pretty much dance to any song playing in a bar. When he revealed that he could swing dance, it was game over for Monica. She, too, swing danced as a hobby and they joked that they could “crush it” on the dance floor.

Monica also gave viewers some insight as to why she was single when she sat down with the Love Is Blind producers for a one-on-one.

“In my past, nothing has ever worked out and it’s exhausting,” Monica explained. “You have to start over and over and over before you even get a chance to start. I came here to something so drastically different to hopefully give me a chance to start the race.”

Love Is Blind’s Joey Revealed a Medical Condition to Monica

While fans saw Joey and Monica seemingly loving their time together in Honduras after they left the pods in the midseason trailer, it doesn’t look like it’s all playful conversations for them in the future. In one scene, Joey revealed that he had been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

“My OCD … everything’s done in, like, a numbered way,” Joey explained. “How many times I drink something. How many times I will pick something up.”

They also seemed to hit a rough patch when one of Monica’s family members admitted that she wasn’t sold on Joey being the right person for Monica to marry.

“I can see him being a really good actor,” the woman told Monica. “He knows what people want to hear.”

Love Is Blind’s Monica’s Family Didn’t Approve of Joey

Following the cast trip to Honduras, Monica and Joey got a glimpse into what their life would be like together in Minnesota. Upon their arrival home, they quickly faced issues when Monica’s family expressed concerns about their relationship.

Her sister, Nicolle, was particularly worried about their compatibility. However, she decided to give Joey a second chance when she offered to take engagement photos from the couple.

Love Is Blind’s Monica and Joey Split During Wedding

Joey had been open about his hesitations leading up to their wedding, and Monica ultimately chose to not marry him during the season 8 finale on March 7, 2025.

“If Joey had told me with his words, ‘I am 100 percent in, it is you. I know it’s you. I’m certain,’ I feel like it could’ve been a lot different,” Monica explained after fans watched her and Joey break up at the altar. “I would have liked a different outcome, but I want to be chosen. I deserve to be chosen.”

“It’s sad that he doesn’t feel as strongly for me as I would hope,” she continued. “I was hoping he would be my person for the rest of my life.”

Joey also weighed in on why he believed Monica decided not to marry him. “I think Monica said no because of her family dynamic with her sister. That was a big inhibiting factor for both of us,” the reality star said. “In the physical affection area, I was working on being more physically affectionate for her and I think that could absolutely be part of it. Monica never said I love you specifically until the altar. The first time she said she loved me was up there, actually.”
