‘The Bachelor’ Star Grant Ellis Reveals His Mindset Going Into Hometown Dates: ‘I Was Worried’

The Bachelor fans will get to watch Grant Ellis meet his final four contestants’ families during the hometown dates, and he teased what viewers can expect from the major relationship milestone.

One week before Grant, 31, will travel to Litia Garr, Juliana Pasquarosa, Dina Lupancu and Zoe McGrady’s hometowns to meet their loved ones during the March 3 episode, he opened up about what his intentions were going into the dates while speaking to Us Weekly..

“It’s really important when you’re married or with somebody to get along with their family — to fit in and to be a unit. That was the goal: seeing the dynamic,” he told the outlet about the hometown dates in an interview published on Tuesday, February 25.

While Grant said he wasn’t “intimidated” to meet any of the fathers, he said he “wanted everything to go so well.”

“I was worried the family wouldn’t like me or there would be a situation where things were awkward,” he continued of his concerns. “All the families were great. I bonded with some more than others, but I had fun all around.”

Grant added that he felt “confident” about his relationships going into the hometown dates, and even revealed he believed that one of the four women would end up being his wife. “I, honestly, was 100 percent sure because that’s what I came there for,” the day trader shared. “I knew I was going to make things work.”

The end of season 29 will air in less than one month on March 24, though Grant also reflected on his concerns going into the experience while talking to the outlet.

“Being in a situation where I didn’t make the right decision or my judgment wasn’t what I thought it was. That’s scary,” he said about his biggest fear going into the show. “But I stuck to my guns, stuck to myself, and I think everything played out well.”

Grant explained that he thinks a good Bachelor needs to have “patience and understanding,” adding, “You have to have a level head because certain things will happen throughout the journey that you can’t predict and that you have no say over. You have to be able to sit back and figure out the best move to make at that moment.”

While Grant has hinted that he found his happily ever after by the season finale, he has not revealed who gets his final rose or if he ends up engaged. However, he did share which of the women from his season he believes will make excellent Bachelorette leads.

“All the women in this season were amazing. Alexe [Godin], Chloie [Costello], Bailey [Taylor Brown], Allyshia [Gupta] — they were all wonderful,” he told Us Weekly. “They all had outgoing personalities.”

One contestant that didn’t last long on his season was Chloie, 28, and Grant reacted to her fan favorite status despite only appearing on the first two episodes. “Chloie got a lot of love and I think it’s really important to show that diversity,” he said. “Chloie was somebody who had one of the best personalities and had the best outlook on life that I had seen in a while.”
