While many of the women want to put all of their attention towards their romances with Grant, drama inevitably ensued between the contestants.

Life & Style breaks down episode 5 of season 29, including who got selected for each date and who was sent home.

The Pressure of Hometowns

The episode began with Grant explaining that he felt a lot of pressure going into the week of dates because hometown dates will take place next week. While he admitted that he was nervous, Grant also revealed he was looking forward to the week and found Scotland to be “romantic.”

Who Do You Want to See as the Next Golden Bachelor?

1st 1-on-1 Date of the Episode

After host Jesse Palmer explained that Grant wouldn’t give any roses away during the dates, it was revealed that Juliana was selected for the first solo date of the episode. “Our love is a fairytale. Love, Grant,” the date card read.

The date started with Grant and Juliana getting into a helicopter, where they shared kisses as they flew over stunning green hills.

Once the helicopter ride came to an end, Grant and Juliana ended up at a castle where they were greeted by a butler. “It’s literally like I’m living a fairytale right now,” Juliana said of the date.

Juliana and Grant got the royal treatment when they worked with a stylist to pick out outfits for the remainder of the date.

They were soon dressed to the nines, and the date continued with the royal theme when Grant and Juliana attended a ball and slow danced as a string quartet played. “Juliana and I are extremely connected. There was a lot of people in that room, but I felt like it was just us two,” Grant said in a voiceover as they danced.

Following the ball, Grant and Juliana sat down for a meal to further their emotional connection. Juliana then took the opportunity to open up about her upbringing, revealing that she saw a loved one struggle with addiction issues when she was younger. She said that often felt neglected due to the person’s addiction, and she didn’t know how to cope with “negativity” and other tough emotions.

Grant responded by admitting he understood where Juliana was coming from, adding that his own father struggled with addiction. “It makes me really want to be here for you,” he said in response to their shared struggles, adding that the revelation made him even more “emotionally attracted” to her.

The leading man went on to share that he has a lone wolf tattoo to symbolize how alone he’s felt in the past, which he believed was similar to the feelings that Juliana was expressing. “The more I get to know Juliana, the more I realize how compatible I am with her,” he said in a confessional, sharing that he’s “in all the way with her.”

The date concluded with Juliana admitting that she felt like she “could be falling in love with” him, and Grant said he was also developing strong feelings for her.

Group Date for Week 5

Sarafiena, Alexe, Carolina, Dina and Zoe were included on the group date card. “I’m looking for my queen. Grant,” Grant’s note read.

The date card solidified that Litia was getting the final one-on-one date in Scotland, and Zoe broke down in tears as she explained that she was the only woman who had not had a solo date with Grant yet. Meanwhile, Carolina vented about not getting enough one-0n-one time with Grant.

For the group date, Grant and the women got to learn more about the Scottish culture as locals walked them through popular activities. All of the women appeared to be in good spirits as they played games, expect for Carolina. After she admitted that she doesn’t like group dates, Carolina said she had “doubts” about her relationship with Grant.

Grant later noticed that Carolina was standing off by herself during a group activity, and he checked in with her. While he initially asked her to join the group, they eventually broke up to discuss what was going on.

Carolina told him that it’s been “really hard” for her and she broke down in tears. “I know how hard this is for you, so I don’t want to complain about it,” she told him, admitting she felt like it was “so obvious” that he wasn’t going to choose her in the end.

However, Grant insisted that he wanted to move forward and encouraged Carolina to return to the group date.

As Carolina and Grant had their conversation, the remaining women on the date expressed their issues with her attitude. Not only did they complain that Carolina got more one-on-one time with Grant, but they also worried how it would impact their chances of getting to go on the hometown dates.

The women were visibly upset during the cocktail date, though they tried to put their issues with Carolina aside while talking to Grant. During her solo time, Zoe pointed out to Grant that she hadn’t been chosen for a one-on-0ne date. Grant then explained that he thought he and Zoe started off their romance very strong, and he felt that they were in a good spot following week 4. He also assured her that he saw a potential future with her, and said she leaves him wanting “more and more” every time they talk.

As Grant took time to talk with everyone, the women had a tense talk with Carolina and complained that she had a negative attitude throughout the date. Dina slammed Carolina for taking time away from the other women, and said she was “selfish” for ruining the group date for everyone else. Following the conversation, Carolina said she was “done” being nice to the other women and said she would no longer tolerate their drama.

Despite being accused of taking up Grant’s time, Carolina continued to add fuel to the fire by spending more time with him during the cocktail party. She said she was happy that they had the tough conversation earlier, and Grant said he thought it cleared a lot of things up.

Later on in the group date, Dina used her time with Grant to discuss her concerns about Carolina. After noting that Grant was likely aware of the issues going on with Carolina, she encouraged him to be aware of everyone’s feelings. Grant eventually said in a confessional that he trusted Dina, which made him truly question Carolina.

Litia’s 1-on-1 Date

Litia and Grant explored Edinburgh during their one-on-one date, where they tried news foods and drinks while continuing to grow their connection. “He’s funny and he’s sweet and he’s silly, goofy,” Litia said about Grant as he attempted to play a bagpipe. “Every time, I just feel more excited.”

“I’m loving being with Litia,” he said, adding that they have a “natural” connection. While talking to two women on the street, Grant admitted he could see “Litia as a wife” and said she has a “nurturing spirt” that he’s looking for in a partner. They then “tied the knot” during the date, where they tied a string into a knot while talking to the women.

The duo later enjoyed an intimate dinner, and Litia said it’s been her “favorite day” of the experience so far. While talking about her potential hometown date, Litia told Grant that she comes from a conservative hometown and is part of the Mormon religion. She also admitted that she’s never dated a man who’s not Mormon, and she wants to raise her children in a household that prioritizes religion.

Grant also opened up about his own feelings about religion, and he broke down in tears as he revealed that he often talked to God during difficult times of his childhood.

The date concluded with Grant and Litia slow dancing, and she got emotional as she spoke about seeing a future with him.

The Rose Ceremony

There was no cocktail ceremony during week 5, and Grant skipped right to the rose ceremony. However, the rose ceremony got off the a shocking start when Carolina interrupted the ceremony to ask Dina to talk.

The women went upstairs so that Carolina could apologize to Dina, and she acknowledged that Dina stood up for her during week 4 when she had issues with the other girls. Carolina added that she knew she’s “not perfect,” and they forgave each other before heading down to the rose ceremony.

Grant eventually handed out roses to Litia, Juliana, Zoe and Dina, meaning that Alexe, Carolina and Sarafeina were sent home.

After she said goodbye to Grant, Carolina admitted she felt “blindsided” to be sent home. “I think I learned I’m more resilient than I ever realized,” she said, adding that she hopes she finds a partner who sees the “value” in her.

Alexe and Sarafeina were just as heartbroken to say goodbye to Grant, and they expressed their sadness as they left the mansion.
