We’re still reeling from the stunning Season 1 finale of Beyond. The breakout hit show was explosive, mysterious, and chilling, while also being tender and sweet, and we were hooked almost immediately. Luckily we don’t have long to wait to find out what happens with Holden, Willa, Luke, and Jeff after their mind-blowing Realm showdown with Frost! Freeform revealed that Beyond’s Season 2 release date is right around the corner on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m., and if the season trailer is any indication, it’s going to be a doozy! But the sneak peek left us with way more questions than answers. Here’s everything we’re dying to know after seeing the teaser!
Will Holden finally embrace his powers and learn to control them?
Holden Matthews (Burkely Duffield) basically spent all of Season 1 trying to ignore the fact that he has some pretty serious powers. Even when he does start to use them with intention, he has no control (like when he blew out the motel lightbulbs.) But in the teasers from Season 2, we see him with a basketball hovering carefully over his hand. However, he also seems to accidentally explode a wine glass and destroy the library after having a creepy vision, so maybe he still hasn’t gotten the hang of this whole “Chosen One” thing.
What’s going to happen with Willden?
Obviously, Holden and Willa (Dilan Gwyn) are ~meant to be together~ but it’s never that easy, is it? While it looks like Willa finally meets Holden’s parents (and the couple finally does the dirty) she’s going to have to find out what he did with Charlie (Eden Brolin) sooner or later, and we don’t think she’s going to like what she hears.
What exactly is coming into the real world from the Realm?
Right at the end of Season 1, we learned that Holden messed something up in the Realm, and that it was probably going to have some serious consequences in the real world. But what are those consequences, exactly? We hear talk of “letting something in” and see terrifying faceless people converging, but what are they? Are they coming back from the afterlife like ghosts or zombies? Are they friendly? Harmless? Out for blood?!
Why does Charlie hate Arthur so much?
When the man in the yellow jacket (Peter Kelamis) was told to “take care” of Charlie, we didn’t expect him to give her Arthur (Alex Diakun)’s address. She’s made it clear that she really hates Willa’s grandfather, but why? And is she planning to kill him? If so, there’s no way she’s going to stay on friendly terms with Holden. And when she finds out he’s with Willa now, we’re pretty sure she’s going to lose it!
What happens to Frost?
At the end of Season 1, Frost (Martin Donovan) is unconscious after making out with some sort of bloodthirsty demon, and we were shocked to not see him in the Season 2 trailer AT ALL! So does he die? Is he stuck in the Realm? Does he have anything to do with the creatures coming into the real world? We’re dying to know!
Who dies, and who kills them?
This is probably the most mysterious part of the trailer. After the man in the yellow jacket is told to dispose of Holden, we see someone dragging a body toward a grave. It’s easy to assume that it’s the man in the yellow jacket (since the killer is wearing the notorious coat) but we can’t see his face so it might be misleading. And who does he kill? Obviously it can’t be Holden, or the series would kind of end. Could it be Charlie? Luke (Jonathan Whitesell)? Jeff (Jeff Pierre)?! We’re just going to have to wait and see!
Luckily we’re going to get a mega-dose of Beyond in the premiere. The first two episodes of the new season will air back-to-back in a two-hour premiere special! Tune in to Freeform on Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. so you don’t miss a thing! And if you still need to catch up on Season 1 first, the whole thing is on Hulu!
