So SadBobbi Kristina Brown’s Cause of Death Linked to Drugs, Drowning

Seven months after Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away, her cause of death has finally been revealed.

According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown died from a combination of drugs and drowning. While the autopsy alone could not reveal the cause of death, a toxicology report found marijuana, alcohol, a “cocaine-related substance,” anti-anxiety medication and morphine in her system.

“The underlying cause of death is the condition which starts the downhill course of events leading to death and in this case is the immersion associated with drug intoxication,” the medical examiner’s office said in a statement. “The pneumonia and encephalopathy are more immediate causes which resulted from the immersion and drug intoxication.”

Bobbi Kristina died on July 26, 2015, more than six months after her body was discovered facedown in a bathtub. Due to that lapse in time, the medical examiner was concerned that “interpretation of autopsy findings and other information” would be “challenging.”

The medical examiner was unable to establish if the cause of death was intentional (homicide or suicide) or accidental, and has classified it as “undetermined.”
