Britney Spears‘ troubled past is back in the spotlight — and it’s all thanks to her one-time manager, Sam Lutfi!

The 41-year-old is taking the pop star to court over unpaid earnings, claiming the 34-year-old struggled with drug abuse during the time they worked together, even sleeping in a parking lot after losing custody of her two sons in 2007.

“On October 1, 2007, Britney lost legal custody of her infant sons,” the filed court documents state. “She spent a night in a parking lot, then called Sam and told him he was one of the few people she trusted. That night, he moved into her home. With the exception of a brief period in December 2007, Sam lived in Britney’s home until February 1, 2008.”

Sam filed a breach of contract suit against the “Toxic” singer after their relationship fell apart in 2008, alleging that he only agreed to work with Britney if she got clean and he received 15 percent of her income, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, their verbal agreement came to an end with the intervention of Britney’s parents.

In Lynne Spears‘ memoir, Through the Storm, the ex-manager is described as a master manipulator who provided the blonde beauty with drugs. He sued Lynne for defamation, but the suit was tossed out before it went to trial in 2011.

Britney’s legal team has also filed papers requesting Sam be barred from her upcoming deposition. A jury will decide if an oral contract was formed between the two and if he is owed a percentage of her $800K monthly income.
