Coparenting isn’t always easy, but Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne make it work. On Tuesday, April 16, the “Call My Name” singer, 35, got candid about her relationship with her ex and baby daddy, 25, in an interview with The Telegraph, noting they couldn’t be more different.

“I’m the strict one; Liam isn’t,” Cheryl admitted. “I’ll be the one saying, ‘Just one square of chocolate,’ but Bear is so good. If I get cross with him he puts his little hands on my face and looks into my eyes to see if I’m deadly serious or a tiny bit cross, and it melts my heart.”

Despite having their differences, the mom-of-one says it’s no big deal as long as their baby is a priority. “[Liam is] much softer than me. But it is what it is, and I’m OK about it,” continued the former Girls Aloud member. “When you have a baby, you are not consumed with just thinking about yourself. It’s your responsibility to keep things settled and happy, so you make the best of everything. And we have.”

Liam and Cheryl first met on The X Factor in 2010. He was auditioning for the British singing competition show for the second time. Meanwhile, she was a judge. He was 16 then, while she was 26. However, it wasn’t until many years later when they finally got together and had their baby boy, Bear, who was born in 2016.

About two years later, they called it quits and announced the news on social media. “Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways,” Liam tweeted at the time. “It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.” Kudos to these two for making it work!
