Chrissy Metz Reveals How She Gets Past ‘Fear’ and ‘Anxiety’ and the ‘Beauty of Just Being Honest’
Honesty hour. This Is Us star Chrissy Metz exclusively confessed to Life & Style about how she deals with the fears and anxieties that come with being in the spotlight. The actress got very candid about how she combats these struggles and explained how she keeps her life balanced amid her hectic schedule.
“I meditate, I pray, I journal, I reach out to friends, I just make sure I let my feelings known,” the 39-year-old divulged about how she deals with stress during the Last Chance For Animals’ 35th Anniversary Gala. “There’s such a taboo with that because you’re like, no I don’t want to feel weak. I don’t want to appear that I don’t have it all together, but I don’t think any of us have it together. Right? We all need each other to get it together and that’s the beauty of just being honest.”
Although fans frequently see the actress all glammed up for A-list soirees, the Breakthrough star added that there is sometimes a lot happening behind the scenes in her personal life that she’s struggling with. In the end, the Florida native admitted that she considers just being present a win.
“I am most proud of just suiting up and showing up because it’s not easy,” the Sierra Burgess Is a Loser actress acknowledged. “People see these grand award shows or red carpet events and people don’t know what happened an hour before they put on the dress. Or, the morning they are about to go to work, and they have to be in a very emotional place for 12 hours and what’s going on internally and personally — so just getting past the fear or anxiety or whatever it is we’re going through.”
Chrissy continued by noting that’s why she tries to keep it candid with her fans — to remind everyone that we’re all in this together. “That’s the only thing I’ve been is very vulnerable and honest … I’m very grateful that being who I am is helping people not only come together but it’s helping me. Suiting up and showing up,” she said.
We think the actress is killing it — on and off-screen!
