Demi Moore Doing ‘Everything in Her Power to Fix’ Chubby Ankles, Considering ‘Cankle Reduction’
Demi Moore has everyone swooning over her age-defying appearance, but she’s not happy about certain aspects of her body, especially her chubby ankles.
An insider exclusively tells Life & Style that the 61-year-old’s cankles have been “giving her grief for some time, and it’s a problem she’s tried to hide with clothes and certain shoes, but it’s gotten worse with age.”
The issue is that her ankles are “disproportionate to the rest of her legs,” the source explains, “and she’s wary of people joking about her ‘cankles.'”
While it may seem silly to some, it’s quite upsetting to the Ghost star, who has decided to take action.
“She’s trying to do everything in her power to fix them,” the insider reveals, including using Epsom salts, getting massages and changing her diet and exercise. However, the source adds, “Nothing seems to be working to her satisfaction, and she’s seriously considering cankle reduction surgery.”
According to the insider, “She’s pretty pleased with the rest of her body, and it’s no secret she’s relied on a few nips [and] tucks to get it, and her fat ankles are the next fixer-upper on her list.”
As the Substance star approaches her 62nd birthday on November 11, a separate source told Life & Style last month that she is “happier than ever” in her personal and professional life, “and it shows.”
However, it took a long time for the actress — who shares daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30, with ex-husband Bruce Willis, 69 — to get to such a good place.

In the early ’80s, Demi drank heavily and became addicted to cocaine as her fame rose as a member of the Brat Pack. St. Elmo’s Fire filmmakers sent her to rehab so she could make the 1985 coming-of-age drama, and she remained sober for almost 20 years. However, she relapsed in her 40s while married to third husband Ashton Kutcher.
The two separated in 2011 before Ashton filed for divorce on December 21, 2012, citing irreconcilable differences.
She struggled mentally and physically following their breakup — which led to an estrangement from her daughters. And in 2012, Demi suffered a seizure and was rushed to the hospital after inhaling nitrous oxide and smoking synthetic marijuana at a party — an experience that almost killed her.
These days, “I’m so grateful to be sober, most importantly, because it’s given me emotional sobriety,” she explained to The New York Times. “Everyone understands the idea of being sober from drugs, alcohol, sex, shopping, those kinds of externalized things, but what it is to be emotionally sober means how I’m choosing to live my life, the quality of how I interact with people, my ability to show up for others.”
She’s also enjoying time with her family and visits ex Bruce, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
As for life as a grandmother to Rumer’s 18-month-old daughter, Louetta, with musician ex Derek Richard Thomas, Demi said, “I love it. She is the cutest.”
The actress “thinks her best work is ahead of her,” the Life & Style source added. “She’s centered and at peace. This is what she’s always wanted.”
