‘Pitch Perfect’ Stars Anna Camp and Skylar Astin Split After 2 Years of Marriage
Say it ain’t so! Pitch Perfect stars Anna Camp and Skylar Astin broke up after two years of marriage, Life & Style confirmed on Friday, April 19. The musical couple has been together since 2013 and tied the knot in October 2016.
“We can confirm that we have decided to separate, and this decision was made mutually and amicably. We kindly ask for privacy as we navigate this transition,” the couple told Life & Style in a joint statement. The pair hasn’t made a public appearance together since attending Mickey’s 90th Spectacular back in October and fans were tipped off about their separation when they unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The last photo the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star, 31, posted with his wife, 36, was a cozy selfie of the two as they rang in the new year on January 1. A few weeks later, the actress shared a series of photos of the pair tearing up the dance floor at a friend’s wedding.
Skylar and Anna kept a relatively low profile when it came to their relationship but they did meet while filming the first Pitch Perfect. The blonde beauty told E! back in 2017, “I did meet my husband on this [movie], on the first one. And I didn’t go in thinking that that was something that was gonna happen.”
They actually met at a very transitional time in their life. “He was dating somebody, and I had been through [a divorce] and he was like, ‘Do you want to go on a date?'” she recalled to Glamour in 2014. Anna was previously married to Scrubs actor Michael Mosley from 2010 to 2013.
Despite her doubts, she went for it. She explained, “I remember thinking, Well, he’s younger than me. He’s five years younger. He’s 26, and I’m 31. But I was like, ‘You know what? OK! Let’s do it, let’s see.’ He’s literally my best friend.”
As for Skylar, he didn’t have the same reservations. “I knew the second I met her that I wanted to know her, and I just wanted to be in her life. I knew that,” he told Popsugar in 2016.
It’s too bad that these two couldn’t make it work.
