Colton Underwood Addresses Savannah Chrisley Dating Speculation: ‘I Was Sort of in a Funk’
Setting the record straight. Colton Underwood finally addressed his relationship with Savannah Chrisley. “I can say this now because Savannah and I are friends,” the former Bachelor, 28, began during an interview with Reality Steve that aired on Wednesday, August 13.
“After Aly, a couple of weeks went by, and I was sort of in a funk and I didn’t know if I was [going to] put myself back out there again and [Savannah] and I — randomly over social media — started talking again,” Colton detailed, referring to his June 2017 split from Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman.
In an attempt to give things with Savannah, 23, a fair shot, Colton decided to attend the Academy of Country Music Awards with the reality TV star that year. “I was very clear, I’m down to meet. I’m down to have a good time … I just got out of a serious relationship. I don’t wanna walk the carpet. I don’t wanna be photographed together,” the Bachelorette alum recalled telling the Chrisley Knows Best personality.
At the time, Savannah had been starring on the USA series for three years. Colton, on the other hand, had yet to become a household name. The Indiana native went on to explain that he brought his brother, Connor, along to keep things “low-key.”
Additionally, Colton made it clear that while his brief courtship with Savannah may have made him look “fame-hungry,” that was hardly the case. In actuality, their fling “wasn’t much.”
After things with Colton and Savannah fizzled out, he appeared on Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette in 2014. Unfortunately, the retired football player was eliminated in week 8 after his hometown date. Colton later appeared on Bachelor in Paradise season 5, before snagging the lead role on The Bachelor in 2019.
As of August 2020, Colton’s journey to find true love remains unsuccessful. He and girlfriend Cassie Randolph, who won over his heart during season 23, called it quits in May.
Thankfully, the former flames harbor no resentment toward each other. “I have nothing but good things and love and well-wishes and friendship with Cassie right now,” Colton assured. “I love the girl and miss the girl dearly.”
