‘I Love LA’ Cast Dating Lives — Who’s Taken and Who’s Single in Real Life?
If you’ve binged the new HBO series I Love LA, you know it’s a hilarious, slightly chaotic peek into navigating love, careers, and friendships in your late 20s. But outside of the screen, who are the cast members dating—or married to? Let’s break it down.
The show centers on Maia (Rachel Sennott), a New Yorker turned Angeleno, whose estranged best friend Tallulah (Odessa A’Zion) unexpectedly shows up at her apartment. The main cast also includes Dylan (Josh Hutcherson), Charlie (Jordan Firstman) and Alani (True Whitaker).
Sennott, 30, is not just the star—she’s the creator and executive producer, shaping the eight-episode series with her signature mix of internet satire, sexual comedy, and self-deprecating humor. “You feel a sense of pride when you find your people in your 20s,” Sennott says. “Then people who live in the same place as you start moving somewhere else. I felt like, ‘Guys! Can we all just pick a place and lock down and stay here?’”
The story mirrors Sennott’s own life as she explores Maia’s feelings of abandonment after Tallulah, now a social media star, bails on their original post-college plans. “Everyone’s gonna do their own thing, but those feelings of uncertainty are where the characters start in the show,” she explains.
I Love LA also touches on the weird parasocial relationships many young adults experience online. “I have had so many weird parasocial relationships with people where I’ve thought to myself that I know them, but it’s this version of them,” Sennott shares. She wanted to depict the internet realistically—“living and breathing and moving, but not making any direct references.” The series premiered on Nov. 2, just over a year after being greenlit.
While I Love LA serves up friendship drama, internet satire, and a glimpse into the chaos of L.A. life, it seems the real-life love lives of its stars are just as intriguing—but thankfully, slightly more under wraps.
