Influencer Mikayla Nogueira Receives Backlash for Response to Angel Tree Request
TikTok makeup influencer Mikayla Nogueira has gotten herself into some hot water with her viewers this week.
The influencer, who previously let fans know she would be giving back this holiday season, has left her viewers questioning whether she will actually follow through on making certain donations.
On November 21, Nogueira kicked off the holiday season with a video offering to pay for the Thanksgiving groceries of those that commented.
At the end of the video, Nogueira also added, “And more to come for Christmas, I’d love to buy lots of people’s Christmas presents.”
In another video later that day, Nogueira asked her fans if they wanted her to make a video of her fulfilling Angel Tree requests.
The Angel Tree program is run by the Salvation Army charity organization to help those in need receive Christmas presents.
In the TikTok, Nogueira said, “I am also hoping to do a bunch of Angel Trees. Now, a lot of people have been asking me to do those, and I do, but I’m confused if you want me to film it or not.”
In the comments, many fans said that they would love for the influencer to do an Angel Tree video.
“YES. video the angel tree. It brings more awareness when people with large followers do it!” one fan said in a comment, which Nogueira liked.
Then on December 10, Nogueira posted a TikTok of her putting together her annual holiday hot chocolate bar in her kitchen.
In the comments, her fans asked her if she was still planning on doing the Angel Tree donations she had previously mentioned.
“Girl, where is the angel tree video? 🥲” one fan commented, to which Nogueira responded, “Patience ❤❤❤❤.”
The next day, December 11, Nogueira posted a video reviewing a face cleanser, but the number one thing on her viewers’ minds was the Angel Tree.
Her comments were flooded with inquiries about the donation, prompting Nogueira to respond.
“Did you do angel tree!!?!?” one fan asked in the comments, to which Nogueira responded, “Did you?”
Another fan responded to that comment in the thread and said, “I was able to save enough to do two, I was so excited! Sooooo…what about you?” to which Nogueira simply responded, “Didn’t happen if there’s no video.”
Later that day Nogueira posted two more videos of her getting ready for a Christmas party she was hosting.
In the comments, however, her viewers were still focused on the Angel Tree donations.
Many people in the comments on both videos either posted the screenshots of her comment exchange from earlier that day pointing out the rudeness of her response or continued to ask if she was still doing the Angel Trees.
“Y’all need to realize that we don’t really care if she don’t do the angel tree. It’s (about) her behavior the way she responded,” one viewer commented on the video of her choosing her Christmas party sweater.
Then, on December 12, Nogueira posted a video of her trying out a new foundation and found her comments flooded with Angel Tree questions yet again.
One viewer commented, “DO YOU KNOW HOW I LONG I’VE WAITED FOR YOU TO DO AN ANGEL TREE?????” To which Nogueira responded, “Learn patience maybe.”
Then, another viewer chimed in on the thread to say, “Keep your word maybe??? 😨,” prompting Nogueira to respond, “Babe, the month isn’t over.”
Then, yet another viewer jumped in to say, “but the system is???? maybe don’t just say stuff for performance ???” to which Nogueira simply replied, “Ends the 15th.”
In a separate comment, another fan said, “I don’t know why you keep getting hate for not doing an angel tree…. December isn’t even over yet 😭💕,” to which Nogueira responded, “It’s wild LOL. I said so many times I was going this Sunday.”
With the Angel Tree program set to end on Monday, December 15, Nogueira’s fans are now patiently waiting to see if the influencer will follow through on her latest promise and whether she will make a video about the experience.
