Iskra Lawrence Praises Her BF for Sharing His Story in Sweet PDA Photo: ‘I’m Proud of Who You Are’
What a supportive girlfriend! Iskra Lawrence took to Instagram on Monday, July 8, to praise her boyfriend, Philip Payne, in the sweetest way.
The 28-year-old shared a photo with her beau along with a heartfelt caption. “I’m trying to keep this short because if I get started, we will be here for time,” she began. “You are a gift, a light and I’m proud of who you are every single day. Thank you for being you. I’m excited for your story to be shared and for you to use your voice to help others realize failure, setbacks, having mad patience, being up then broke, staying humble and career 360s are all part of the journey and that success is not about the material things but about purpose and positive impact.”
She continued, “Holding back so much I could say, but this is just the beginning … love you more each day, thank you for supporting me to be the best I can be, @philipapayne.”
In case you’re wondering, Philip was a former athlete who turned into a tour manager and songwriter and recently shared his journey on how that career change came about. He’s a University of Texas alum who played football until he decided to pursue his love for the music industry. Philip struggled to get his foot in the door, but that all changed when he met Sascha Stone Guttfreund, a young concert promoter, who invited him to have lunch with rapper J. Cole one day.
“I knew I needed to get to a place where they knew I was serious about this,” Philip told For the Students. “I had a part-time job at the YMCA but I was willing to do everything and anything to show them that I wanted to work in this industry.”
“I’m making use of all of the favors that I built on the road,” he added. “I’ve built all these relationships just because I’ve taken care of so many people. I’m finally in a place where I’ve built my name up to where people know my character, and people are willing to do a lot of things just because it’s me.”
It looks like Iskra and her beau are all about inspiring and working hard — we’re here for it!
