Jennifer Aniston’s Formula for Feeling Good: ‘Friends’ Alum’s Tips on Health, Diet, Fitness and More
She turned 56 in February, but Jennifer Aniston looks and feels amazing. In fact, the Morning Show star recently told TODAY.com: “I’m the strongest and the most in shape that I’ve ever been!” Her secret? Pvolve, a low-impact, resistance-based workout that Jen had been a fan of for two years before joining their team as an ambassador in 2023. “I absolutely love it,” she gushed to Allure. “Strength training is the most important thing for women in their 50s. You lose muscle, your bones get brittle.”
During her 20s and 30s, the Friends alum subscribed to the “no pain, no gain” fitness philosophy — which sometimes just resulted in pain. “I really destroyed my joints from running or boxing,” she told TODAY.com. “I would personally go too hard.” Now, she tries to do a 50-minute workout four times a week, blending cardio, strength and mobility work. If that doesn’t happen though, the Emmy winner isn’t going to beat herself up. As she explained to Prevention: “Even if I do 10, 20 minutes, it’s going to make all the difference.”
Jennifer Aniston Knows Health Is All About Balance
All the sweat sessions in the world can’t totally negate a terrible diet. But when it comes to food, Jen believes in balance. “It’s the 80/20 approach,” she shared with Allure. “Eighty percent healthy living and then 20-percent is: Go have a martini, go have your pizza and burgers and stay up late with your friends.”
Her weekday lunches and dinners are “usually some form of vegetables and a protein,” Jen dished to Women’s Health. “In the afternoon, I’ll just have a snack of like an apple and almond butter, or popcorn.”Logging shut-eye is also crucial, even if getting the recommended seven to nine hours a night isn’t always possible. “Sleep and I have a real hard relationship,” the LolaVie founder said to Allure, noting she limits news and doom scrolling as she winds down at 10 p.m. “Some days you’re great and on point, and some days you’re just not.”
She takes a similar path in the A.M. “For me, meditation is big, big, big, big,” Jen told Harper’s Bazaar. “A moment in the morning that is for yourself.”
Above all, the actress encourages listening to your body. “It’s been with us since the day we started,” Jen mused to Allure, “so we can’t be too hard on it.”
