Jennifer Lopez Felt ‘Electricity’ With Alex Rodriguez When They First Met in 2005
Was it love at first sight for Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez? Something like that! When J. Lo first met the former MLB star in 2005, she said she felt an instant connection. Based on their current relationship status, we so believe her.
“We shook hands, and it was this weird electricity for, like, three seconds,” the pop star, 49, said in an interview with Sports Illustrated published on Tuesday, June 25. “Three to five seconds of looking at somebody right in their eyes, and getting stuck.”
At the time, Jen was married to Marc Anthony, while A-Rod, 43, was with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis. It’s all about timing, right? Twelve years later, the soon-to-be newlyweds had better luck. During a 2017 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the “On the Floor” crooner spilled the deets of what went down the second time they met, this time when they were both single.
“It’s very simple. I was having lunch somewhere and I saw him. He passed by,” the Shades of Blue actress explained at the time. “Afterwards I went outside, but for some reason, I felt like tapping him on the shoulder and said, ‘Hi.'”
Eventually, Alex asked Jennifer out on a date. “He [later] texted me, ‘Let’s go out to dinner,’ and I said, ‘OK,'” the singer continued. “We had a nice dinner,” she revealed.
Fast forward two years later and the former baseball player popped the question during a mini getaway in March. The following month, Alex revealed how he planned the proposal.
“I planned it for about six months,” he said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “It was on a beach in the Bahamas. I had the ring but what was interesting was that, three days prior to me going down on one knee … I would rehearse three days in a row, because I wanted the sunset to be perfect.”
It was perfect indeed because she said yes. These two prove happy endings do exist!
