Jessica Alba and Cash Warren Heading Toward ‘Messy’ Divorce Financially: ‘Not Going to Be Easy’
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren’s divorce comes as no big surprise to a close friend, who exclusively tells Life & Style they’ve been on the brink for many years and but now still must face the daunting prospect of carving up their combined fortune, estimated to be at $150 million.
“Jessica has been very candid about things not being perfect between them,” the insider says, “Not that long ago she admitted they were more like roommates and had put their marriage on the backburner because of work and their kids.”
Jessica, 43, told host Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s, “It’s all rosy for 2 ½ years, but then after that, you become roommates,” during an appearance on the “BDA Baby” podcast in April 2024. “And it’s just, like, you’re roommates. You’re just going through the motions. It’s the responsibility. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.”
“We’re on 17 years. He basically stole my 20s and my 30s,” the Into the Blue star added. “So, we have the friendship and the comfort of, like, ‘You’re not going anywhere,’ and so, sometimes, you don’t treat those people the best. You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings.”
At the time it came off as a joke, as just a month later the Fantastic Four star gave her husband, 46, a tribute via Instragram celebrating their 16th wedding anniversary, writing, “16 years of marriage, 20 years together and forever to go … Happy Anniversary [Cash]. I’m proud of us for making it this far. There is no real set of rules or guidance that can ever prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to be family. Through thick and thin we have continually found our way back to each other and have chosen one another. Cheers to us, I love you.”

Still, the couple were spotted without their wedding rings over Christmas 2024 and on January 8, 2025, TMZ reported they’re sorting out an impending divorce.
Even though they had been leading separate lives, “actually separating and going out on their own is not easy on many levels,” the insider says. “Right now, they’re both saying they want this to be a conscious uncoupling, and they want to maintain their friendship but once it comes down to dividing everything up that may get a lot tougher because she is worth at least twice what he is, so figuring out what is a fair way to divvy things up is bound to get messy, especially with lawyers involved.”
Jessica and Cash met on the set of Fantastic Four in 2004, and married in 2008, when they were both in their 20s. Jessica was a movie star by then and Cash’s career was still just starting out, which means their finances have become intertwined as they launched business ventures and production projects.
“They were so young when they got married, and the Honest Company, which is what made Jessica the lion’s share of her fortune, wasn’t even an idea yet, so the odds of any prenup they may have put in place being sufficient to cover all the points that will need to be considered is pretty unlikely,” the source adds.
“It’s not going to be easy or quick.”
