The Way They Were! Jessica Alba and Cash Warren’s Relationship Timeline Amid Separation

2004

Jessica and Cash met while she filmed Fantastic Four in 2004. She played Sue Storm in the movie, while he was working as a director’s assistant on the Vancouver, British Columbia, production.

“Right after I met [Cash], I called my best friend and was like, ‘I met this guy and I feel like I’ve known him forever and I’m gonna know him for the rest of my life,'” Jessica recalled to Cosmopolitan in September 2010.

2007

Engagement and a pregnancy! In December 2007, Jessica’s rep confirmed that she and Cash were engaged and that they were expecting baby No. 1 in the late spring or early summer of 2008.

2008

Marriage and a baby! The couple wed in a civil service at the Beverly Hills courthouse on May 19, 2008. Jessica gave birth to their eldest daughter, Honor Marie Warren, several weeks later on June 7, 2008.

“We eloped and I think I was nine months pregnant!” Jessica told Glamour UK in July 2022. “It wasn’t planned. It was literally, ‘Honey, do you have anything to do this morning?’ And he was like, ‘No.’ So, I said, ‘Should we go to the courthouse and get married?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah.’ And then I said, ‘Can we get waffles afterwards because I have a doctor’s appointment? Will you come to my doctor’s appointment?’ And that’s how it happened!”

2008

Jessica announced her second pregnancy in February 2011.

“I thought I’d drop by to let you all in on some exciting news — Honor is going to be a Big Sister!” the Good Luck Chuck star announced via Twitter and Facebook. “Cash and I are thrilled and wanted to share the news directly with you, so you didn’t hear about it somewhere else. I appreciated all of the love and support you all gave me during my first pregnancy and will definitely appreciate it again this time around. Have a great day!”

The couple welcomed daughter Haven Garner Warren on August 13, 2011. Jessica wrote on Facebook, “She was born on Saturday, weighed 7 lbs. and was 19 inches long. Healthy and happy! Big sister Honor couldn’t be more excited about the new addition to our family.”

2017

One more time! Jessica revealed she and Cash were expecting baby No. 3 in an Instagram post cradling her baby bump while standing next to Honor and Haven. Her daughters held up “1” and “2” balloons, while Jessica raised her “3” balloon in the air.”@cash_warren and I are officially going to be outnumbered #babyonboard,” Jessica wrote in the caption.

On New Year’s Eve, the couple had plenty to celebrate, as the Into the Blue star gave birth to their first son, Hayes, on December 31, 2017.

“Hayes Alba Warren 12/31/17. Best gift to ring in the New Year!! Cash and I feel so blessed. Haven and Honor are already obsessed with their new baby bro,” Jessica shared in an Instagram post announcing her son’s arrival along with the hashtag “family of 5.”

2019

Jessica, Cash and their kids made their first public appearance as a family of five at the Baby2Baby holiday party.

2021

The Honest Company founder opened up about her family’s home life, including some frustrations with Cash.

“Haven steals my phone and goes on TikTok because she’s not allowed to have social media. Whenever there needs to be a chore done, Honor loves to be doing her homework,” Jessica told People about her daughters.

“And Cash plays chess and does New York Times crosswords pretty much every waking hour that I’m trying to talk to him about anything,” she added about her husband.

Jessica went on to explain about their marriage, “At different times, there were different things that we needed. Around the time I had the kids, it was like, ‘I need [date night] once a week. And he’s been like, ‘I need you to be present on the weekends and not work.’ Over-communicating, maybe that’s it.”

She said the pair “over-communicate what’s happening before it gets to the point of no return,” adding, “I don’t think we have a secret at all,” about how their marriage worked. “We just have to check each other.”

2023

Jessica looked adoringly at Cash at the pair attended the annual Vanity Fair Oscars party.

2024

The year saw Jessica hint at trouble in their marriage while celebrating 16 years as husband and wife.

“It’s all rosy for 2 ½ years, but then after that, you become roommates,” Jessica laughed during an April 2024 appearance on Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s “BDA Baby” podcast. “And it’s just, like, you’re roommates. You’re just going through the motions. It’s the responsibility. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.”

“We’re on 17 years. He basically stole my 20s and my 30s,” she added. “So, we have the friendship and the comfort of, like, ‘You’re not going anywhere,’ and so, sometimes, you don’t treat those people the best. You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings.”

Jessica shared an Instagram tribute to Cash on the couple’s wedding anniversary in May 2024, posting a series of behind-the-scenes photos from throughout their marriage.

“16 years of marriage, 20 years together and forever to go … Happy Anniversary @cash_warren. I’m proud of us for making it this far. There is no real set of rules or guidance that can ever prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to be family. Through thick and thin we have continually found our way back to each other and have chosen one another. Cheers to us, I love you,” she wrote in the caption.

By December of 2024, fans noticed both Jessica and Cash had stopped wearing their wedding rings. His was noticeable in the family’s Christmas photo, which the Trigger Warning actress shared via Instagram.

January 2025

Jessica and Cash were together for Hayes’ 7th birthday celebrations at Universal Studios Hollywood along with Honor and Haven. In a January 3, 2025, Instagram post, she called it the “best day,” although Cash was once again not wearing his wedding ring.

TMZ reported on January 8, 2025, that Jessica and Cash recently separated and planned to file for a divorce. The duo did not refute the story or comment on the split.

January 2025

Jessica broke her silence about the status of her marriage via an Instagram text post on January 16, 2025.

“I’ve been on a journey of self-realization and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” she wrote. “I’m proud of how we’ve grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

Jessica continued, “We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”

February 2025

Jessica filed for divorce from Cash on February 7, 2025, and listed the official date of separation as December 27, 2024, according to paperwork viewed by Life & Style. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce.

Shortly after Jessica filed her paperwork, Cash filed his own paperwork and it was revealed they did not have a prenup in place before their split.
