Jessica Alba Breaks Silence After Cash Warren Split, Says They’re on ‘New Chapter of Growth’
Jessica Alba has broken her silence one week after reports revealed that she and husband Cash Warren have called it quits after 16 years of marriage.
“I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” Jessica, 43, wrote via Instagram in a text post on Thursday, January 16. “I’m proud of how we’ve grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”
She continued, “We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”
Jessica issued the statement one week after TMZ reported on January 8 that Jessica and Cash, 45, had recently separated and planned to file for a divorce. Their split was revealed following speculation that there was trouble in paradise, as both Jessica and Cash had been spotted without their wedding rings.
The former couple met on set of Fantastic Four in 2004. Jessica starred in the film as Sue Storm, a.k.a. the Invisible Woman, and Cash worked as a director’s assistant.
The pair got married in May 2008, and they welcomed their eldest daughter, Honor, in June of that year. Jessica and Cash later welcomed their second daughter, Haven, in August 2011, followed by their son, Hayes, in December 2017.
After news of their split was revealed, an insider exclusively told Life & Style that Jessica and Cash never thought they would get a divorce.
“Jessica and Cash have had their ups and downs over the years, but they always said that divorce was never an option,” the source said in an article published on January 10. “Well, that’s all changed.”
The insider continued, “After a lot of heartfelt and tearful conversations, and marriage counseling, they’ve decided to split up.”

After noting that it’s been “a tough time” for the couple, the source said they were “being very honest about their feelings, and why it’s the right time to move on.”
“No one is placing blame; it’s basically a matter of growing apart,” the insider added. “Jessica and Cash aren’t bitter, they still like each other and plan on staying cordial.”
While Jessica and Cash weren’t able to save their marriage, the source insisted that they were focused on “healthy coparenting and making this transition as smooth as possible.”
In addition to ditching their wedding rings during public outings, Jessica also hinted at their issues when she appeared on an April 2024 episode of Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s “BDA Baby” podcast. “It’s all rosy for 2 ½ years, but then after that, you become roommates,” she said. “And it’s just, like, you’re roommates. You’re just going through the motions. It’s the responsibility. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.”
The Honey actress added that she and Cash tried to schedule regular date nights without their phones so that they could “just talk” to each other, though she admitted that the dates weren’t “consistent.”
