Julia Fox Clarifies Sexuality — Why She Doesn’t ‘Entertain Men Anymore’
Julia Fox is never one to shy away from speaking her truth — and this time, she’s setting the record straight about her sexuality.
The Uncut Gems actress, who’s become as famous for her fearless candor as her bold fashion choices, is sharing where she currently stands when it comes to love, attraction and labels. One year after seemingly coming out as a lesbian — though later clarifying she was “up for” a relationship with a woman — Julia is offering an update on her sexual orientation.
“I’m pansexual; I could be attracted to anyone and anything,” Julia told Allure in an interview published August 19. “If it were just down to the physical, I’m more attracted to the female body. Men don’t do it for me at all [physically], but I can be attracted to a man’s mind.”
She continued, “I’m a vibes person.”
While the Down the Drain author revealed she has “definitely had crushes and did some stuff [with women],” she admitted those experiences have “never gotten to full relationship status.” Still, Julia shared that she doesn’t feel the need to “entertain men anymore.”
“The way my life is, I can’t see why a man would be beneficial,” Julia — who shares son Valentino, 4, with ex-husband Peter Artemiev — explained. “I’m laser-focused on being a good mom, on being a good provider, on making my dreams come true.”
And for her, that focus means not wasting time on dead-end relationships. “There’s just so much more you can do with your time than waiting around to see if a guy’s going to text you back or not,” the 35-year-old emphasized.
Julia, who famously had a brief romance with Kanye “Ye” West in early 2022, also opened up about why it took her so long to fully embrace her sexuality.
“I think women have a harder time [realizing they’re queer] because we are so programmed to perform for men,” she said, reflecting on how her past female friendships were actually more than platonic. “Looking back, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, we were in a relationship.’ But there was no way I was going to admit that to myself, and I couldn’t because so much of my survival was hinged upon men taking care of me.”
As for whether the actress — who revealed in May 2024 that she had been celibate for over two years — misses men in her life? Julia didn’t hesitate to shut that down.
“No,” she said, “not at all.”
