Kansas City Chiefs’ Team Chef Reveals 1st Impression of Taylor Swift: ‘Just Really Taken Aback’
The Kansas City Chiefs’ team chef, Erin Wishon, has gotten to know Taylor Swift since she’s been dating Travis Kelce, and Erin said the “Karma” singer couldn’t be any nicer.
“You know what’s crazy? I cannot get over how authentic she is,” Erin told Us Weekly in an interview published on Tuesday, February 5. “We feed the team, we’re standing outside the locker room. We see everybody when they come down the hall to leave. I was just really taken aback at how kind and authentic she is. I mean, you don’t have to greet the food people, you know? When somebody is like that, I think it’s really incredible.”
Erin also revealed that she’s “heard” that Taylor, 35, is “an excellent baker and an excellent cook.” However, she has yet to try one of the Miss Americana star’s homemade pop-tarts, which Travis, 35, has raved about several times.
“I have not had one of them and I’m extremely jealous because I adore her,” Erin said.
Travis was asked about his favorite treat made by Taylor in a recent interview during the Super Bowl opening night festivities.
“She is quite the cook,” the “New Heights” host said. “Man, I’m a breakfast guy and her pop-tarts are unbelievable. Homemade pop-tarts, unbelievable.”
Taylor’s not shy about sharing her treats with the entire Chiefs team, either. Before she attended her very first Chiefs game in September 2023, she baked homemade cinnamon rolls for everyone.
“Typically an NFL team, you go to the hotel the night before the game. You wake up the next morning, you have a pregame meal, then you go to the stadium with the team,” retired NFL star Bernie Kosar said during a December 2023 appearance on the “Tobin and Leroy” show. “[Taylor] comes in by herself, she’s so cool, she brings … she made her homemade cinnamon rolls for Travis for a pregame meal.”
During her first season while dating Travis, Taylor only gifted the pastries to some of his closest teammates, something Chiefs head coach Andy Reid jokingly complained about.

“She likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade pop-tarts,” Andy, 66, said during a February 2024 interview. “She didn’t give me one, and the offensive linemen definitely didn’t give me one.”
The “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” singer’s sweet treat tradition continued throughout the 2024 NFL season, as well. She branched out and began giving the baked goods to everyone on the team, and her efforts did not go unnoticed.
“Taylor Swift baked homemade victory Pop Tarts for me! Yolonda Merritt said, ‘She’s done it all season for different people Dave.’ I thought I was SPECIAL. Sweet young woman regardless!” Dave Merritt Sr., the Chiefs defensive backs coach, shared via X on November 26, 2024.
Along with the message, Dave, 53, attached a photo of the pop-tarts decorated with white icing and sprinkles. On the top of the box, the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” artist wrote, “Victory pop-tarts! Congratulations! Love, Taylor.”
