This friendship has faded. Former pals Kanye West and JAY-Z are preparing for a heated courtroom battle, Life & Style has exclusively learned. According to an insider, Kanye, 40, is planning to sue JAY-Z, 47, over a money dispute.

Kanye — who once called JAY-Z his “big brother” in a 2007 song — pulled out of his contract with the “99 Problems” rapper’s music streaming service, Tidal, in July, claiming they owed him a $3 million bonus for bringing in 1.5 million new subscribers with his 2016 album, The Life of Pablo.

“Kanye believes he’s owed by Tidal and he will fight for it,” says the source, adding that Kanye is willing to drag JAY-Z to court because he doesn’t believe their relationship will ever be the same. “There’s no salvaging the friendship, so Kanye’s go ing full force. He could reveal secrets about JAY-Z that may not be pretty.”

And, according to the insider, JAY-Z could do the same. “Jay would rather settle this man-to-
man, but it’s gone beyond that now,” the source says of Beyoncé’s husband, who is also armed with an arsenal of information about Kanye and his wife, Kim Kardashian. “This is war.”

While he’s upset about his deal with Tidal, Kanye’s resentment stems from JAY-Z and Beyoncé’s decision to skip his 2014 wedding to Kim. “Kanye thought his children would grow up with Jay’s kids [Blue, 5, and 2-month-old twins Sir and Rumi],” says the source. When he realized that would never happen, “Kanye was really hurt,” says the source. “He feels Jay used him for his music.”

Though their issues may run deeper than finances, Kanye — who last year publicly revealed he was $53 million in debt — has shown he’s willing to sue for money he believes he’s entitled to. “This isn’t some little dispute, not in Kanye’s eyes,” says the source. “Kanye feels deeply betrayed by JAY-Z. This will get settled in the courtroom.”
