It’s no secret the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is falling apart. Just after it was revealed that Gigi Hadid and a handful of other models had their visas denied by the Communist country, it is being reported that Katy Perry has also been banned from China.

According to Page Six, the “Firework” singer was originally granted access but the decision was reversed due to her controversial performance in Taiwan in 2015. During the show, Katy famously wore a sequined dress adorned with sunflowers — the symbol adopted by anti-China protestors. She also waved a Taiwanese flag, which China has deemed offensive.

“She was initially granted a visa to perform at the VS show in Shanghai, then Chinese officials changed their minds and yanked her visa,” the source said. “For every artist who wants to perform in China, officials comb through their social-media and press reports to see if they have done anything deemed to be offensive to the country. Maroon 5 was banned a few years ago because one band member wished the Dalai Lama happy birthday on Twitter.”

A similar situation occurred for Gigi, 22, when her visa was denied after an offensive video surfaced showing the model squinting her eyes to mimic a Buddha statue. Even though she has apologized for the incident, officials did not let her enter the country.

“It hurts me to hurt anyone, and I want you all to know that it was never my intent to offend anyone through my actions and I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt or felt let down by me,” her statement read.”I have the utmost respect and love for the people of China and cherish the incredible memories I have made while visiting in the past. I have learned to be very careful of how my actions can come off or be portrayed and I’m hopeful you’ll accept my apology.”

To replace Katy, who previously performed on the show in 2010, the insider is revealing that former One Direction singer Harry Styles will be performing on the runway. Let’s just hope the show isn’t a complete disaster.
