Kelly Clarkson Returns to Instagram Following the Death of Her Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock

After nearly a month away from social media following the loss of her ex-husband and the father of her children Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson returned to Instagram to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of her American Idol win.

“To everyone that took time 23 years ago to call in and vote for me, thank you. Winning American Idol changed my life and I will be forever grateful for all of you that have supported me for so many years,” Clarkson said in the post.

Clarkson’s performances and first place victory on the very first season of the show catapulted both her and the show into massive popularity and led to a long and successful music career for her.

Clarkson’s fans were thrilled to celebrate the moment with her, commenting their support and reminiscing about voting for her with pride. “I voted, and would do it all over again because you’re amazing and deserved to win!” one fan shared in the comments.

This moment of joy comes after a difficult year for Clarkson and her family as Blackstock batted cancer and passed away last month at the age of 48. Clarkson and Blackstock share two children,11-year-old River and 9-year-old Remington.

Clarkson’s previous post ahead of her absence from the platform detailed the cancellation of her August performances due to the struggles her family had been facing and was posted the day before Blackstock’s passing was shared with the public.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson wrote in the August 6 post.

Friends and fans alike commented their support for Clarkson and her family. “Sending lots of love to you & your kids – your whole family as your mourn,” one fan shared on the post.
