With the birth of her first child just around the corner, Khloé Kardashian is asking for an extended maternity leave from Keeping Up With the Kardashians. However, her mom Kris Jenner is giving her a hard time about the break — and Khloé is threatening to quit the show.

Sources are revealing exclusively to Life & Style that the pregnant reality star is prepared to walk away for good if necessary. “Kris will never admit it to anyone, especially Kim, but she knows the fans love Khloé the most,” says the source. “They want to see those first few weeks and months between Khloé and the baby.” However, it won’t be easy for the 33-year-old to quit right away.

The famous family recently renewed their contract with E! through to the year 2020 — and Kris, 62, has reminded her daughter of that fact. “Khloé’s contracted to star in the show,” notes the insider, “and has to abide by the rules. She feels trapped.”

But Khloé has promised boyfriend Tristan Thompson, 26, that she will limit her presence on the show to the bare minimum, like her sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. She also plans to take a break from promoting the show so she can breastfeed her baby without “pumping on planes and FedExing the milk back.” If network execs know what is good for them, they won’t give the mom-to-be too hard of a time when it comes to her break from filming. “Once her contract is up, Khloé has threatened to leave the show for good,” says the insider. “She can’t deal with Kris micromanaging her any longer.”

And Kris doesn’t think she’s bluffing. “She knows in her heart,” says the source, “that Khloé has always been her own person.” Earlier this month, Life & Style reported that Khloé and Tristan are banning cameras from the hospital room during the birth of their baby boy— which is reportedly due early next year.
