When it comes to losing weight after giving birth, there’s no one size fits all method. In fact, beyond every person being different, so is every pregnancyEnter: Kourtney Kardashian. The longtime Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 40, took to her popular lifestyle site, Poosh.com, to break down how she got her “body back” after each of her three children.

For starters, Kourtney noted that she gained “exactly 40 pounds” while carrying Mason, 10, Penelope, 7, and Reign Disick, 5. However, that’s where the similarities ended! “My body and my experience after having each of my kids was so different. I was in a different place mentally, emotionally and physically — even if by just a couple years,” she wrote.

After giving birth to her eldest, Mason, Kourtney focused on the basics. “I was very into running, usually a quick two-to three-mile run with some good music in my neighborhood, combined with some at-home workouts and uphill walks with the stroller,” she recalled. “I was breastfeeding for 16 months, which really helped me lose weight after Mason.”

After Penelope, Kourtney continued to take it easy with “mellow” exercises like mommy-baby yoga, but noticed that it was growing increasingly more challenging to achieve her fitness goals.

“After about two years, I felt really ready to be in the best shape I could be in and started getting into intense workouts,” the oldest Kar-Jenner sister explained. “I did a lot of HIIT workouts, which is High-Intensity Interval Training. It’s a lot of short, super intense bursts, like jump lunges, squats or running up stairs, and it burns crazy calories and builds strength.”

Last but certainly not least, came the ever-adorable Reign. “It wasn’t until Reign was probably 4 months old that I felt this desire to be in the best shape of my life,” Kourtney admitted, adding, “The most important thing is to listen to your body and to do what you’re doing for you, not for society’s standards of getting your body back, because they are unrealistic. This was my journey.”

Well said, Kourt!
