Long distance isn’t easy! Just ask Kristin Cavallari and her husband Jay Cutler. Now that Jay, 34, is playing football for the Miami Dolphins, the married couple of four years has had to make some serious adjustments to their family life.

With Jay gone, adhering to the NFL’s rigorous schedule, Kristin and her three kids — Camden, 5, Jaxon, 3, and Saylor, 1 — often find themselves at home in Nashville, TN. But that’s not stopping the couple from making their relationship stronger than ever. In fact, the family is racking up the frequent flier miles and relying on FaceTime to keep things feeling normal.

“We’ll be at all of the home games in Miami,” Kristin tells Life & Style at a Sept. 11 Chinese Laundry event at NYC’s Bagatelle. “We FaceTime all the time, all day long.”

It’s clear the whole long-distance thing isn’t putting a damper on Jay’s role as a dad. And it’s not negatively affecting his marriage either.

“It helps a lot being able to see someone’s face,” Kristin reveals of the moments when they get to FaceTime. But that’s just the PG version of the couple’s chats.

In 30-year-old Kristin’s book Balancing in Heels, the reality star admitted that the couple keeps things lively by engaging in sexts. “I’ve been known to sext from time to time,” the mom of three revealed. “Gotta do whatcha gotta do!”

In fact, Kristin also revealed in her book that distance really does make the heart grow fonder. She wrote, “Even not being together can be meaningful if you make an effort. I actually love traveling for work because it makes me miss Jay.”

“I can’t wait to see him,” she continued. “I get excited to come home and hug him after being gone for a couple of days. I still get butterflies in my stomach.”
