It’s a battle of the bling, y’all! On Oct. 16, Lady Gaga confirmed her engagement to longtime boyfriend, Christian Carino. By default, she also happened to confirm that the massive ring she’s been rocking for a few weeks is actually, yep, you guessed it: her engagement ring!
While we have no doubt that Gaga and her soon-be-husband share a one of a kind love, this isn’t the first time the “Million Reasons” singer has accepted a marriage proposal. ICYMI: Gaga was once engaged to hunky A-list actor Taylor Kinney. The pair eventually called it quits in 2016 after being together for five years. He, too, gave the pop legend one hell of a ring.
So, here we are, two Gaga fiancés and two diamonds. Question is, which is better? Life & Style spoke with Kathryn Money, VP of Strategy and Merchandising at Brilliant Earth, to determine which of Lady Gaga’s engagement rings is the supreme.
“Lady Gaga’s first ring from Taylor Kinney featured an estimated 6-8 carat heart-shaped diamond on a thin pavé diamond band in platinum or white gold,” Kathyrn surmised. “We estimate the ring cost between $350,000-$500,000, depending on the characteristics of the diamond,” she continued. “The show-stopping heart-shaped diamond in this ring created a unique and sweetly romantic take on the classic solitaire.”
As for the 32-year-old’s current ring? Well, it’s just as magnificent on paper as it is in pictures. “Lady Gaga’s current ring from Christian Carino has even more sparkle than her first, featuring an estimated 11-13 carat pink diamond or pink sapphire surrounded by a floral halo of 12 colorless round diamonds, set in white gold with a yellow gold band,” Kathryn explained.
“Both rings reflect Lady Gaga’s romantic and feminine — yet unique — style. Although both styles are stunning, Lady Gaga’s current ring (if it is indeed a pink diamond) is certainly more rare.” Well, there you have it, ladies and gentleman. If the engagement ring is a testament to the marriage then Gaga and Christian are going to live happily ever after.
