Lamar Odom’s Daughter Slams His “Toxic” Relationship With Khloé Kardashian
A little over a year and a half after Lamar Odom‘s near-fatal overdose, his daughter Destiny is speaking out about her father’s struggle with addiction — and his “toxic” marriage to Khloé Kardashian.
“Things changed when my dad married Khloé. Things were a lot more public,” the 17-year-old, whose mom is Lamar’s ex-wife Liza Morales, explains in a People Entertainment Network feature. “When your dad’s an NBA player, that’s already enough, but when he’s marrying a reality TV star, things are so public and you don’t have a private life anymore.”

Destiny, who was a huge fan of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, admits, “It was crazy that my dad was getting married to this woman that I used to watch religiously. It was such a whirlwind, really.”

But ultimately, the teen thinks their relationship was destructive, though she tried to accept the situation at the time. “I wouldn’t say it was a matter of my dad loving Khloé more than me. I think that my dad has an addictive personality, so he was addicted to the attention he got with Khloé more than me,” she shares.
“There were regular snide comments at school,” she adds. “And when his addiction became public, then it became a social media thing. Even people that I thought were my friends were saying stuff on social media. It was humiliating.”
As for her father’s hospitalization in October 2015 — after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel — Destiny confesses, “We all thought… he was going to pass away. I basically gave him the ultimatum that it was rehab or him not speaking to me anymore.”
The athlete has since received treatment for substance abuse and the pair is slowly rebuilding their relationship. “I’ve had conversations with him just letting him know that I want him to get help,” she says. “But at the end of the day he’s a grown man and you have to want it for yourself.”
