Former Bachelor star Arie Luyendyk Jr. and his fiancée Lauren Burnham are currently backtracking after their offensive April Fools joke got serious backlash. The couple took to social media on Sunday, April 1 to announce that Lauren was pregnant with the couple's first child — a joke that wasn't well received by fans.
The 36-year-old tweeted, "I do have sympathy for women struggling from infertility. My April Fools prank was in no way meant to offend women who struggle with that. I apologize if you were effected personally by my post."

Before he confirmed the prank, fans were outraged after seeing the pic. "If this is true then congrats but if this an April fools joke see the image above and learn your lesson," one fan wrote, adding a photo with a caption that claimed one in eight women struggle to get pregnant and one in four have lost a baby. Another fan tweeted, "You really are a douche canoe if this is an April fools [sic]!!"
Though they may not actually have a bun in the oven just yet, the couple is in a hurry to tie the knot and are already planning to get married this summer.
